mothers liquid or paste better?

I noticed mothers cleaner/wax comes in both liquid and paste forms. Just wondering for those of you who have compared both, which one lasts longer, which one shines better, and which one is easier to work with?

I also notice their natural carnauba wax also comes in the two forms, could anyone who has tried these comment about the same categories?

On a side note, I also noticed mothers has a "reflections" car polish, and also a new "hotwheels" one. I think these are both cleaner/waxes. Anyone try these yet and can comment on how they are, and maybe how they compare with their regular cleaner/wax?

Thanks!

The liquid versus paste is a non-issue. Both have the same longevity, but (personally I think) paste is easier to work with because there's less chance of over-applying it, and it's a better value than liquid.

Reflections is a first generation synthetic product. Yes, it has cleaners in it.

Hot Wheels Premium Wax is a new hybrid one step product for us - a mixture of carnauba and synthetic in a good one step. Think of it as mixing Reflections and our Natural Formula (no cleaners ) carnauba together. Ease of removal of synthetic, and hard slick finish of carnauba.

It also comes with a limited edition Mothers collectible Hot Wheels.

HTH.

Thanks for the answer forrest. With that out of the way then, which of the 3 one-step mothers waxes lasts the longest and has the best shine?

Original Carnauba Cleaner Wax

Reflections

or HotWheels Premium Wax?

So based on the fact that hotwheels is pretty much a mix of reflections and original, then hotwheels has the 2nd best shine and the original has the least of the 3? Just applying some logic there.

What about durability though? I read some posts about soft resins making up reflections, but I'm not sure if that means it's not as durable as a polymer or carnauba. Could you please rank the 3 waxes in terms of durability?

I've heard some people report greater life with the paste versions. :nixweiss Have you tried a search bcwang? Try "mothers paste" or something like that maybe.

I'd say the gloss numbers are hoigher on the HW than the original formula carnauba's, but I haven't actually seen numbers. I haven't been able to play with an actual production version of HW, since it's selling so fast - literally every one we can make.

The softness of resins versus carnauba is more a tactile difference - it just feels softer, it doesn't make it less durable. I'd expect durability to be somewhere in between the 2, but again, I haven't been able to do a real world test on production product.

I'm not too worried about durabiity of products, because we've found the true enthusiast maintains his vehicle frequently enough where it's not a factor. Honestly, it's more a satisfaction thing versus putting protection on the paint.

Paste is a better value, though. The average consumer gets 3 applications out of a 16 ounce bottle, versus 15-25 from a can of paste. So, it's more economical for the frequent user.

I like to care for my car, but unfortunately with my current life I barely have time to do anything. That's why durability is important for me.

3 years ago, I washed and waxed my car it seemed every week. Ever since a year ago though, I haven't been able to even wash my car myself because I never had the time, or the proper environment. Because of where I live, I only have a short window of opportunity early in the morning to wash and wax the car before I can't find any more shade.

In fact, the last time I washed my car before washing and waxing it last weekend (raining today of course, at least it's got wax again) was 6 months ago. So now I'm looking more for durability than anything else, since I foresee the same wash/wax intervals at least in the near future.

I think I'm going to have to stick with liquid since the HW and Reflections only come in that form, and so far it sounds like those will outlast and outshine the Original formula.

It's a bit strange, seems like I can easily find the HW at every auto parts store, but only pepboys around here have I seen reflections, but even that doesn't have the reflections wash.

By the way, is there any difference between reflections wash and the cali-gold wash?

4DSC,

I did search on mothers paste, but it only gets compared to other paste waxes and not it's liquid form. Unless I didn't search thoroughly enough.

bc - there's no real difference between the Reflections wash and the California Gold Car Wash except for dye and fragrence.

As a matter of fact, we've stopped producing the Reflections Car Wash.
