Mothers Clay Bar thoughts

I have always used Clay Magic and found it to be great for removing debris

and cleaning the paint. I recently ran out of Clay Magic and picked up a

Mothers Clay Bar kit.

Is it my imagination, or is Mothers far more mild? I find that it doesn't seem to

pick up as much grit, grime, etc. as CM. Even after doing an entire panel, I

don't really see that much discoloration on the bar. When running the bar

over the paint, it seems like there is less drag and less cleaning action. BTW,

I am using the detailer/lube that came with the kit.

The Mothers bar seems to do a pretty good job, but I wonder if it's as

effective as Clay Magic. Anyone else come to the same conclusion?

I never had a problem removing debris. My cars are in the garage most of the time. I did stop using Mothers when they discontinued selling three bars in a container from their professional line. I did not like the fact that they made you buy the kit. I know the reasoning behind it that the novice will damage their car if not used correctly. I guess other companies do not care since they offer the clay alone. (just a joke) I have since switched to Meguiars clay (blue) and it did a great job. I had never clayed my bimmer and it is 5 years old. It did a great job. I am not sure if I would go back to Mothers if they were to offer the 3 pack of clay after using Megs. I guess I am saying try using Meguiars clay.:xyxthumbs

Yep, I used it the other day in the usual manner and then sealed the vehicle without checking for contaminant removal. Sure enough, there were still rough patches. I'd use it on my vehicle, but not on one that needed significant decontamination unless it had soft paint.

On a positive note, I don't have to drink a protein shake and take 2 teaspoons of creatine to mold it like I do with the clay magic.

I know exactly what you mean. I have to say the Mothers clay bar is really

great to work with. You can fold it over and prepare it for another pass in

no time at all.

I think if I had a vehicle that was garage-kept and not a daily driver, I'd

probably prefer to use Mothers. But, for my purposes, I feel CM is the

better product.

Thanks for your input, bimmer330. I'll give Meguiars clay a shot.
