Mobile Detailers How do you wash in the sun?

So how do you guys wash in the sun? I mean, I don't think every guy I go to is going to be in a shady area. If I just have to do a wash, there would be no point in me setting up a tent. (or pulling it into the guys garage, if he has one) So how do you guys do it? How do you guys wash in the sun? I know this could probably be in the business section, but hope this section is okay as well. Thank You! -AquaHawk

ONR is my answer also.....

I live in Texas, and do not have a mobile shade to move around

for every little wash.

ONR allows me to do a low-marr wash, while being out in the sun.

I do use a variation of the "Gary Dean" method, so it does use up

approximately 6 to 8 MF towels for the outside of the vehicle.

If I was just worried about time, or the customer is just worried

about the cost, then I just use a 2 bucket system and a mitt with

the same ONR.

I actually have changed to ONRWW, the WW being With Wax.

find some shade! the trick is keeping soap from drying on the surface, so...use your 2 bucket method and do a panel at a time. Just soap and rinse, soap and rinse. If you remove the nozzle from the hose and kink the end (to slow down your water flow) you can create a "sheeting" action on the surface which leaves way less water spots and less water on the surface to dry.  A good quick detailer comes in handy in this situation too. Spray it as you dry to remove any dried spots and helps prevent scratches while you dry as well.

I wash in the sun with no problems (NYC), but it is not like Florida hot. I use a PH balanced soap, quick disconnects, foam cannon and a fireman's hose nozzle. I try to keep the car as wet as possible while washing, the fireman's hose nozzle has several settings and is much better then a standard sprayer. It has a rain like setting that gives you sheeting action too. With the quick disconnects I can back and forth bt the foam cannon and fireman's hose quickly.

Then I dry with a leaf blower and final wipe with WW towel and Megs Last Touch. The key is to have everything set up for speed and efficiency prior to the wash. Have everything ready to go so it doesn't slow you down.
