Mineral Spirits on Plastic Trim?

Does anyone know here effects of mineral spirits on trim? I've been looking at different dyes for trim and I saw one brag about containing no mineral spirits. I saw another dye that suggested thinning their product with mineral spirits for certain applications.

This made me wonder about the effects if there were any

If it was used as a thinner, it would be fine. Using it straight on plastic probably wouldn't be a good though.

Mineral spirits is a very mild solvent and I haven't damaged anything yet. I use it on all sorts of plastic and vinyl trim in order to clean it especially if there old sealant or wax that needs to be removed....

I'll second this! I used it to loosen up paint over-spray with a brush on a floor-board and many other parts of the car with no issues.

I went and checked a bottle of due I had and it smells like mineral spirits a little. It doesn't say what's in it but I think it must have some mineral spirits. I used it on my old truck and it worked fine. The plastic seemed ok after I used it.

I guess I won't be overly concerned since its not much. Even if I thin it with mineral spirits it wouldn't be much. I just wondered if it would eat away over time but it usually evaporates pretty quick from what I remember.
