Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner #2

I've got some Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner #2, and was wondering if applying this product by hand would work, or would it diminish the ability altogether. My car does not have swirls or scratches heavy enough for #2 (in my opinion), but I was wondering if applying it by hand would do anything. Also, if there is any other product on the Meguiars line that would be a little less abrasive than #2, it would be appreciated. I was looking at the MPPC and was wondering how this would stack up against #2 since they don't have the chart on the side of the bottle that shows abrasiveness. Thanks

Matt,

Yes, Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner can be applied by hand. However, I would not recommend using it on your car, since your car 'does not have swirls or scratches heavy enough for #2'.

For a vehicle that does not have swirls or scratches heavy enough for #2 Fine Cut Cleaner I would recommend using #7 Show Car Glaze instead.

Remember, #2 Fine Cut Cleaner is somewhat abrasive. It is basically designed to help remove light oxidation, swirls, scratches and hard water spots. Once it is applied you will almost always need to follow up with a polish such, as #7 or #81 topped with either #20, #26 or NXT.

Just my thoughts based on my own experience using these products.

purp99gp- You have a number of options here, without necessarily having to go to a NON-abrasive product like #7. Look into (listing milder to stronger) #9, #82, and (my preference) #80, and finally, #83. These are all MUCH less abrasive than #2 but still abrasive enough to remove mild marring. And the "80s" series products were designed for use on b/c paint.

I'd be VERY hesitant to use #2 on a b/c car at all, and certainly not by hand unless you had something really nasty that needed strong abrasives. #2 works well on ss, but it really isn't designed for b/c. Although some of us have used it that way, Mike Phillips recently :nono me about recommending #2 on b/c, and he oughta know.

what's a b/c and ss?

I have a 86 beater and there are swirl(heavy and deep) and i am planning the use a PC and #2 to take care of it, then some VM and CMW.

Single stage

Accumulator is correct. The 80 series are much more effective. I don't know about the dangers of using #2, but #83 DACP is my primary swirl remover.

If it's heavy swirling, #2 won't do it anyway. #83 is more effective. If it's really bad, you may even want to go to Compound power cleaner or Diamond Cut cleaner.
