This will be my first review of a product, so bare with me.

Im giving you a review of the Megs 3" Microfiber Cutting Pads I just received. I had Chevrolet Tahoe to do this morning so I figured I would give them a go.

This is the second time I have done this vehicle for this customer. I showed her the RIDS, swirls, and lighter scratches that were present when she brought it to me the first time. She wanted to get them out but wanted to do it the next go around.

I broke out my Porter Cable 7424 polisher. Granted, this is the old model with the 3.7 amp motor. I have had this thing going on 10 years. I used Megs D300 and the 3 inch backing plate which came right to the edge giving me a "exact fit" backing plate/pad combo. Kevin Brown told me this would give me better control and cut better since all the pad was being used and getting the same pressure.

Note(Im only using the 3 inch pad and plate because im still waiting on the 5 inch to come in. I was only doing the door for her today to basically show what it should look like)

Here are the before and after pics.

That's what I use them on also. I have a PC and GG gen 3 with 3 inch backplate.

thickness looks to be 5/8"

Oh ok cool. Thanks for the thickness. I'm sure being thin could really help cut more with the GG 3" mini. I have LC HT's and they are entirely too thick for it.

Great job! If Todd's giving you that hint for the forum give away, I'd go for it! Hope you win, because you did a fantastic correction! Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

EDIT: I see you did post to the forum giveaway. Good luck!

Awesome job! And welcome to the world of posting reviews, you're off to a great start. :yourrock

I bought the 5" disc compound & 5" polishing disc to try. I admit was I was little skeptical, but after using both disc on a paint correction job, I was impressed. I did purchase the Mequiars materials to use with the disc, as well. The one thing I noticed is the disc loaded up rather quickly with material & had to be cleaned numerous time per panel. But, for the job that I performed, numerous light scratches, abrasion marks from drive-thru car washes, etc., the pad & materials work well.

You always have to clean your pad after every panel. I blow mine out with air compressor.

I use a backing plate that Kevin Brown made for me with my 5 inch pads.
It goes all the way to the edge.

I got some xtra cut discs in and they are very very thin. I haven't had a need for them yet, so cant speak on performance.

i recently used the 3" mf pads with my gg 3" da. even thought the power is lacking in the gg 3" , it worked well. switching back to to a gg 3" orange pad, there was a very noticeable difference in cutting power which was much greater with the microfiber pad. serious correction will be much easier if you use a full size da with a smaller backing plate, if working space allows. i also used a lc flexible backing plate, which i think helps.
