Description

Meguiar’s #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner is a three-ply product. Cleans. Revives color. Provides UV Protection. One simple step to total rubber and vinyl care? #40 couldn’t be easier, more thorough, or more competent! A complex combination of cleaners and nutrients designed to get dirt and impurities safely out of the way, while administering a moisturizing, protective coat that lasts for weeks. You can use it on interior and exterior surfaces with confidence. You’ll never see a yellow film or brownish haze on your vinyl or rubber surfaces when you stick with Meguiar’s #40. It works to restore the original color back to the material... and the finish is nothing short of stunning. No grease here! Just a wonderfully rich, high-class luster.

Color/Scent

I didnt really care for the smell. Kind of hard to describe. Smells like a sample of car scent that steve gave me. I think it was new car or leather? When i sprayed it out it looked Yellow/Green.

How i used it

I tried this one a door that hade been steam cleaned and then sprayed an amount on to the door and spread with a terry applicator. It left a really clean vinyl with a very low sheen. I tried it on another door that didnt get steam cleaned. I foudn it worked and looked just as good on the non cleaned door as it did on the steamed door.

Thoughts

I didnt really care for the smell of the product. It did a good job at cleaning the door and left a low sheen. It was definatly a lower sheen that the look of VRT that i am used to. It went on easily and didnt streak. It looked good on rubber door seals as well. It didnt leave the rubber looking streaky which was a plus. I dont know if I would buy this again but I saw it for under 10 bucks at checker auto so I had to buy it naturally. It will never replace my VRT which i love but if i ever find it cheap I might pick up another bottle.

Nice review. I just finished up my #40. When I first got it I use it everywhere. After a few interior/dash apps. I decided not to use it again. Bought some Natural Look. #40 is great on outside trim and tires. Most likely I will not buy this product again. I have NL and VRT and some newly Chemical Guy's stuff, almost forgot some "Knockout" from Adam's.

I used Meg's #40 for many years. It was once my favorite dressing for vinyl interiors and tires, and I used to buy it in the gallon sized bottles from a local speed shop. I still think it's a nice product, but it's lost its place as my favorite dressing.

Yeah... that smell is one of those things that make you go "hmmm..?"

I think they were going after "Leather" scent. :dunno

If you like #40 and use it in any fashion on the exterior, I'd highly recommend giving #57 (Marine Line product) a try... I find it to stand up 10X better to the elements than #40 (which is a personal stand-by of mine along with Vinylex). I think it's formulated a bit more for 'exterior' use... Heck, I have trouble 'washing' it off but, I've yet to see any running after rain.
