Looking for chemical-resistant spray bottles (in Canada)

Hi all, I'm not sure how many Canadian detailers are on Autopia, but does anyone know where I could find some chemical resistant sprayers/spray bottles in Canada?

I'm not having any luck finding any at local hardware stores. Home Depot has some, but they're those ginormous Zep Pro bottles which I'm not too crazy about. Everywhere else just has cheap low-grade bottles.

Unfortunately, USP doesn't seem to ship to Canada. And every time I'm placing an order from eShine or AutoObsessed, they're out of stock.

Thanks,

Dave

I take it you are after sprayers, not bottles. There are many detail supply or janitorial supply companies that sell them. But I just reuse them from other products. My longest lasting sprayers are A All type sprayers, reused. They seem to be as chemical resistant as the bought ones.

I don't know where you live Dave but maybe you have an Industrial Plastics store or shop in your area.

I go to the local one and stock up on both the bottles and the chemically resistant sprayers and I always get a few extra sprayers just in case. They always have tons of stock on hand.

So, any plastics shops locally for you?

Chemical "resistant" does not mean chemical "proof". In 20 years of detailing full time I have yet to find a trigger that will stand up to solvent based products or acids. When I use my wheel acid, I simply remove the trigger after and stick it in my wash bucket. Pull the trigger a dozen times or so to flush the product out and put back on your bottle so its ready to go next time. The whole procedure takes about 20 seconds. The triggers I use in my wheel acid last over a year by doing this. THe triggers I use and sell are the same ones used by Duragloss and a few other companies.

A. The bottle, no matter what "brand" that are quality and chemical resistant will have markings on the bottom that are stamped HDPE and the number 2.

B. Chemical resistant sprayers will use a stainless steel spring in the spray head, not aluminum or steel. Also they will use a vytex o-ring seal. These cost more but are fairly resistant to acids, alkalines and of course hydrocarbon solvents.

Ron - what components actually ends up failing in chemical resistant sprayers when used with harm products like acid?

I too, like Ken, always flush my sprayers with APC or soap and they last a looooog time. Funny thing was I used to tell my detailers to do this when I was 1st starting out and I kept replacing sprayers all the time. I actually used to buy them by the case. As soon as I changed things around and they were responsible for all their supplies, it immediatly stopped.

"Spring materal", "o-ring materal", those are the two components which will fail when exposed to caustic/acidic materials.

Like I posted, "stainless steel for the spring", and vydex for the oring seal.

ValuGard, when I was there, Tim and I went through all the suppliers, learned what makes some better than others, etc (only about 4 or 5 who actually make and remarket sprayers) and these are the factors that make the real difference.

ValuGard still sells both the quality sprayers and the HDPE, stage 2 florinated bottles, they provide nothing else, no low grades.

They are still running the special on net and phone orders until the end of the month for USA purchases, just use the code "T10K" when ordering for a discount.

Canadians need to use the toll free number - 800-543-7156 to get in contact with whoever is their distributor for Canada these days.
