Little Green Cleaning machine

I bought one of those at amazon.com. I used it on my car, and around the house. It came in very handy for a while, because I have a cat with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (meaning lots of stains to remove from carpet and furniture). I have to say though that I am very disappointed with the durability of that machine. It constantly clogs, and after less than a year of use, it is leaks and clogs to much to be of any real assistance.

has anybody found a good portable subtitute (other than a standard wet-dry vac)?

Nope. But I haven't been looking either. For a once on a while deal, they aren't bad, but I find them VERY loud, the hose is just a little too short to work in cars without having it right there with you (which increases the loudness... ), the water is just squirted out, as opposed to "injected," and the suction isn't too powerful.
On the plus side, if a person doesn't have a shop vac, but does want to do some spot cleaning, the LGM may work well enough (as long as you pre-spray and agitate well before extracting).
I think that if you were planning on shampooing once or twice a year, renting a "professional" one might be a better option. (Plan on doing the house while you're at it! :w00t: )

for anyone who is looking to buy one, check your best buy, etc... as they are on clearance since the spotbot has taken it's place. i picked one up brand new for $54.95 at best buy on clearance.

As I said though, I'd give these machines a pass since they are not very reliable.

This stinks. Where was this thread a few weeks ago when I bought when my LGCM. I already used it and threw out the box too.

I disagree in some ways about the LGM...I had one that I used problem free for 3 years. I used it 2 to 4 times a week, except winter. The only draw backs to this machine. The hose is real short so you are moving the unit around allot, the recovery and solution tanks are small and it seems like you are constantly refilling and emptying them.
The solution sprayer dosen't really inject into the rug, but I felt that it did a decent job of getting into the area, and there was enough lift to pickup what I had to get done.

For a weekend guy that is looking for a cheap extractor that can produce decent results this is a good buy. It also is great for around the house for those household accidents.

I have read that he reconditioned one seem prone to problems. Mine was new. It finally gave out on me about a year ago. I always felt that I got my moneys worth on this unit, and would buy another for home use if they where cheap enough.

I suppose we all have differnet experiences. Mine was so unreliable, I just stopped using it.

To be honest, though, I used mine around the house more than in the car. The car has mud and dirt, and the rugs have cat hair and fur. It might be easier for it to jam in the house.

But, either way, it wasn't worth the money for me.

I paid $75 for mine (model w/ Proheat) as the LGCM is being replaced this year by another model. The Spot Buster or something like that is the new one. I've used it 3 times and so far I like it. I haven't cleaned any SUV's or anything with it just 2 four doors and a convertible and I only filled the tank once for each car. So far, I only have two complaints. One the hose is too short as other people have mentioned. Two, the hose coupling combined with the different brush heads is a little long and makes the brush head hard to maneuver in tight spaces.
