That thread got me thinking, specifically this picture:

David and I talked at length about things and he is a top notch guy with great ideas and really appreciates his customers, he goes the extra mile to make them feel needed / special, Thanks David!

What a fantastic thing to do, this is just one example that pops in my mind on things that we as professionals could do for our clients, small things that go the extra mile, or IMHO the extra 2 or 3 miles!

What sort of things do you do or more specifically leave for your customer to make them feel needed or special. Lest we not forget without the customer we dont make money. I think its very important to acknowledge the customer and make sure they know how much they mean to us.

So I guess the questions is what do you do or leave?

I was thinking a Money Clip, A good ink pin, A leather binder with a paper pad in it, an Embrodered Polo shirt, a screen printed t-shirt with a logo or catch pharse? Perhaps a leather wallat, or personalized detail kit, or a simple thank you note. Perhaps a license plate frame, this list could go on and on for a while....

What do you leave behind if anything? Have you thought about leaving something for your customers?

Ithought a great idea if i could ever find a company that would do it is get a logo'd MF towel (non-abrasive logo of course) I mean they are getting a detail from you. I think a gift that has something to do with that would really make a good statement. I always leave Biz Cards. Right now it's really the only thing in my budget. Alot of people do the pen thing. But no one ever pays attention to pens anymore. Maybe a sampler pack of the products you used to get the detail in tip top shape.

LOL Is that a new company?? That's my old logo to my old B&D shop.

Not sure... I just thought it was a good idea so I googled it. I have no experience with that company-just posted the link to give an idea of what I was talking about.

anyone know of some websites online to purchase some promotional items or gifts from that have a very low minimum to purchase (or no minimum)?

I just think its a great idea and thought to leave something for the customer. At the end of a 12 or 14 or what ever hour detail to still think of putting the customer first speaks volumes about yourself and the quality of work you strive to put forth.

Any good places to purchase promotional items?

I like the Logo'd MF Towel idea and the thermal mug is a great idea as well.

I am currently trying to find a local company to meet my needs on promotional items and gifts for my clients.

Perhaps different gifts if they spend over $1000 vs $100 a year or what have you....

Thanks so much Brandon for all of your kind words. It was a pleasure to get to talk to you last night about what we do.

I just ordered some vanity/promotional plates from: Yard Signs, Signs, Custom Signs

No minimums, good prices. We'll see what the quality is like.

I really like the travel mug idea. What I always come back to it touches....How many touches will the client have with what I present them on a daily basis. It has to be something they will want to use frequently and also makes them feel special (proud) when using it. The more they touch something daily, the more they'll remember how they felt when they originally received it.

For all my customers that do a full detail I like to send them a thank you card in the mail. Usually it consists of 3 lines:

Line 1: thank you for letting me detail 'x' vehicle

Line 2: Something personal about the detail. Most people have something they wanted fixed/cleaned in general. I usually say a statement about that.

Line 3: Thanks, questions, please call.

then i put my business card in there. I have received a lot of praise over this. While you 'can' email and say thanks, there's something about sending a letter in the mail that is a different touch.

I always send a 'Thank You' card after a detail. My maintenance clients get gift cards to places like Starbucks or McDonald's a few times a year. I have the personalized mints, but always forget to leave them:)

Sometimes you can find people that will so small runs of such products on ebay. I've used a few service providers on there before for various things with good results. Some really good ideas here in this thread.

I love this thread! Thanks for more great ideas.

I leave a Eurow MF and a business card in paint correction work overs

I leave a business card, and a hand written thank you note on basic details.

Cheers,

GREG

Also STAPLES would be a good place too look for gifts and such.

I ordered a catalog last week 3 different ones.

Such items as; Thermos's, pens, air fresheners, tire gauges, retractable computer keyboard brushes(which I liked) and all other things to choose from..

Well I thought this was cool. Apparently This thread is being watched by others. And the air freshner company mentioned in the first page saw this and saw my comment about my old logo and sent this my way... I thought it was very cool of them to do this because they definatly didn't have to. So if anyone is interested hit them up and get some of the those promo items going.

Man Jake, if they didn't jack your logo, they sure are keeping close tabs of what you're doing online...i'd be worried if I were you :scared:

Just kidding...LOL!

I always find it amazing to find out who is "watching." Thanks for sharing Jake.

BTW- my plates came in from Build-A-Sign.com

I think they are of very good quality and I am extremely pleased with them. The only thing I hate is the printing industry's lead time...but I'm over it.
