Karcher Foam Gun Attachment

I am thinking of getting a foam gun attachment for my Karcher pressure washer. I already have a Gilmour FG but was looking for something simple to use when I was using my pressure washer to clean vehicles.

Has anyone had any experience with this product as an attachment for their Karcher pressure washer???

PressureParts.com Offers ::Karcher Detergent Foamer Attachment

My pressure washer does not have a threaded end that would allow me to use a foam cannon.

IIRC correctly SuperBee said in one of his foam threads that there are videos of this attachement in use on YouTube. I believe he said it doesn't do as good a job as the Cam Spray.

I bought the Cam Spray on his recommendation and it's EXCELLENT. The problem is getting it to attach to a Karcher. I had a Husky which presents the same problem. However, I just bought a new hose/gun assembly which I was going to do anyway as the trigger on the OEM gun wouldn't stop sticking.

Mike is the hose/gun assembly that you got universal to the Karcher and Huskeys??? If so, depending on cost I might get it and think of the foam cannon...

another option you have is to get the Karcher adapter attachment, but I don't know of any place in the U.S. that sells it. I know AutoBrite UK carries it and luckily I was able to get it through a group buy on here.

The downside to this attachment is the quality control on these Karcher adapters are $hitty. I thought I was the only one having issues, but someone else from the gb had the same problem and some people in the UK had problems with it too. I guess the problem stems from the hole in the middle of the adapter, and if it was bored out just a little that solves your problem. I don't have the proper tools to do this right and I'd hate to screw up the adapter by not boring it completely straight.

So whenever I put my attachment on, it requires a good amount of force to do it. I'm fairly strong and I have issues, so I know some people wouldn't even be able to put this on their Karcher gun.

Yeah I saw the Karcher foam lance attachement being sold by a vendor in the Uk. The only downside is that the cost with shipping would almost equal the cost of 2 Gilmore FG's. I am look for a quick and low cost alternative.

I have the Gilmore. Its just a PITA to switch between that and the pressure washer when I am doing a nice pre soak prior to washing. I was looking for a simple solution for the PW.

Either way, if you go with a cam spray unit it's going to be a lot more expensive than the Karcher foam attachment. If you get it from the UK, it'll be expensive. If you don't buy it from the UK, you have to purchase a new standard wand plus the cost of the cam spray.

Here's a video of the Karcher foam attachment in action:

YouTube - Karcher Foam Fun

It appears to be decent foam at first look, but notice how on the front driver side fender the foam already is gone, which makes me believe his foam was more "watery" than what you really think and can see from the video. Also, notice how by the end of the video he was out of foam. He was able to foam for roughly a minute before he would have to refill.

Compare that to this:

YouTube - snow foam my bmw x5

Notice how his foam seems to be sticking to the paint.

Do you currently have quick connects? That would make changing from your Gilmour to your Karcher faster.

I have yet to hear many positive things about the Karcher foam gun attachment. Lowe's (seasonally) carries replacement pressure guns that you could use on *any* pressure washer to get the required female threaded end for the cam-spray foam gun, but they aren't currently in stock, and the web site generates a "page not found" error when I try to look at them on their web site. I was planning on copying-pasting a link to their page so everyone could see what gun they needed. Guess I'll have to wait til next spring.

The hose & gun I bought are universal. So, if you bought a different pressure washer you could continue to use them. The gun came with an adjustable spray lance and was $50 at Lowe's. The hose I got at Home Depot and was $15 for 25 feet. I'm not sure about the Karcher, but the Husky gun attaches to the hose in an odd way. So, I had to buy a new hose. If the Karcher gun screws onto the hose then you won't need a new one.

I just bought all this stuff a week or two ago. So, some HD's and Lowe's still have PW accessories in stock.

I am currently using the karcher foam pictured in yellow,

it is better than nothing although I have a gilmur I always use after the karcher one.

the down side to the karcher foamer is that the foam won't stick for a long time

and will continue to drop off the car. it is better than gilmur but less foamy than

AB lance sold in the UK for example.

Harry Houdini...

Thanks for the info. This was exactly what I was looking for. I kinda figured for $20 that I wouldn't get the performance of a foam cannon for a foam lance. I really don't want to invest money in a new PW since I only detail on the side.

As long as I am getting better foam that the Gilmore I should be in good shape.

Then I am sure you will love it, I bought 2 of them in case one breaks down.

but I am sure then later on you will want the full blast of foam that sticks on the car

while you wash the wheels and still find it there to rinse it down "at least thats how my mind

set is going to lol" until there is a really proved assembly for the "super foamer"

or ready to sell package, I will still be using this one until then!

How are you planning on using the foam attachment? So far I've strictly used mine as a pre-soak as I can not employ Accumulator's method of washing: foam gun in one hand, bhb or wash media with the other hand.

If you already have a Gilmour, I'm just not sure if it's even worth it, even for $20. I'd rather spend money on some good quick connects to make changing hoses from the Gilmour gun to pressure washer much easier.

I was going to use it as a presoak when I was using the PW. I have some quick connects already. I was just going to pre soak...pressure wash/rinse..then two bucket wash. I just wanted to simply things and not have to switch back and forth between the Gilmore and the PW when I was using it.

I only use mine the same way, to presoak the car, rinse it off, get my gilmur

which is already attached to a second hose I have 50ft or 60 long.

Here is how my setup looks like.

Main water fost, hosed with 4 Ft long hose to my water filter and water softener system,

from there a 2 way connector "from home depot" is attached to water filtration system, a hose from there goes

to the pressure washer the second hose goes to the gilmur hose.

So I don't need to switch anything around. gilmur has a quick connect so I can remove it

and use my other rinse down accessories.

That's how I'm using my foam cannon at the moment.

I guess it's worth a shot if you're looking to simplify things. Worst case scenario is you lose $20, although I'm sure someone would snatch it up on eBay and you can recover some of that cost. Or lose a few bucks shipping it back to your whereever you decide to purchase it.

I was going to use it in a similar manner. Just pre soak with the foamer then attach the regular wand and rinse. I would then move onto a regular two bucket wash with grit guards.

I would just use the Gilmore for times when I was not using the PW (semi clean details)
