I'm after a bit of advice on cleaning interiors, I've started doing a bit of detailing on the side tho at the minute i'm stuck on mates-rates 
laterly I've had some cars which were very neglected, and whilst I can do a decent job on the exterior, the interiors i really struggle with, It didn't help that the interiors were tan

Basically what should I be doing to get the carpets clean again, and also the the door panels ect, I can scrub for hours, but the muck just doesn't seem to get out.
Would a steam cleaner help?
To clean the seats carpet etc i've tried using washing machine soap, fairy liquid (washing up liquid) etc. basically no joy, is there a magic product available?
I'd love to be able to detail interors like I can with exteriors and really wow everyone rather than it looking fantastic then the customer being almost disappointed when they get in.

EDIT: I scrub with a cotton cloth, should i be using something more abrasive? like a plastic bristle brush?
