Interior Car Cleaner

Seems like the interior of my mini-van get dirty right after I clean it...I guess two kids can do that. I have been using Eagle One Zap for general cleaning of the dashboard and any other inside vinyl and plastic. The problem is that I cannot find Zap locally (the Chicago area) and had to mail order it. The local Wal Mart has Simple Green by the gallon. Does this stuff work for interior cleaning? Is a product like 409 too harsh? I have been reading a thread here recommending Meguiars APC +, but unfortunately I cannot find it here and Meguiars wants a minimum four gallon order.

One side note, I use 303 to protect the dash after a cleaning. Do any cleaning products reduce the effectiveness of 303?

You can get APC and any of the Meguiar's products from CMA, you just have to call them because its not in thier catalog or on thier web site. They can get though. I bought a gallon of APC and some DACP from them a month or so ago.

For just cleaning dust and light dirt from the dash and interior plastic I would just use a damp micro-fiber towel. That way the 303 will last longer. Always use the less aggressive cleaners first.

Hey FNG, where did you find APC+? I have been to a local NAPA, Pep Boys, and Murrays and it was nowhere to be found.

Green Monster, I just received an order from CMA and am not ready to place another one just for the APC+. I would still like to find a local supplier. I guess that I have to keep looking.

Yeah I found it. I couldnt get it today because I came 5 minutes late and they already closed. I told them to order me the Engine Kote too, but it wont be here until Friday.

FNG, what store did you find it at? I go to Kansas City on business every couple of months so maybe I can pick up some.

Thanks

Do you need directions? Its about 10 minutes from downtown. Right off of I-35.

From downtown, go southbound I-35

Exit Johnson Drive

Turn right

At the stop light, make another right

First corner you see

It will have a Car Quest logo on the building.

From what I gather, simple green would be wayyyy too harsh on the interior carpet of a car, right?

If so, I think Ill pick up some APC + and a stiff brush.

The APC+ seems to be a great all purpose product. Just be sure to follow the dilution ratios on the container. It and simple green are both pretty strong stuff and probably shouldn't be used straight out of the bottle.
