Initial Vroom Review - Tire Dressing, Glass Cleaner, Wash Mitt

While in Target over the weekend I could not help but try a few of the Vroom items, including the sheepskin wash mitt, tire dressing, glass cleaner, and two microfiber polishing cloths.

Tire Dressing

Scent: Smells like a lightly scented cologne.

Application: Directions say to apply and then let it dry for 15 minutes, finishing up by wiping the tires with a cloth. Doing so left a very matte finish so I applied a second coat, leaving the product to just dry. It is dry to the touch in a matter of minutes and leaves behind a nearly perfect sheen. Even application and it takes very little product, perhaps two sprays per tire once the applicator pad is primed.

Durability: I'll post in the coming days.

Glass Cleaner

First impressions of Cleaner: NOT ammonia based. It really seems to be a spray on and wipe off product, as a glass cleaner should be. It did not leave residue trails behind like other glass cleaners have. Glass is left clear without streaks. I took a picture pointing into the sun and while I know there are not any streaks, I do not know if a picture would even show any.

Now for the sheepskin wash mitt. This is by far the nicest sheepskin wash mitt I have ever used. It has a very thick pile and is softer than any other sheepskin mitt I have owned, including the Eurow (or is ir Euro?) from Wal-Mart and mitts from online sources such as Premium Auto Care. It seems to be a bargain at $6.99 (compared to online sources). Highly recommend it. :) Oh, and always grab the softest. ;)

All in all, I am pleased with the Vroom products I have tried. I do not know if the tire dressing is a boutique replacement (none are terribly durable, IMO) or if the glass cleaner will replace Invisible Glass in my arsenal but they seem to be quality products. Anyone know who the supplier is?

I saw the Vroom sheepskin mitts and, at least the batch I saw, appear to be the same as the most plush Eurows. When shopping for Eurows, the consistency isn't very uniform, there are usually some that are plush and some that are flat. ( not factoring softness yet)

If the Vrooms consistently appear plush, ( that's something to observe over a period of time with each visit to Target) that is a real plus. However, they do not bypass the "pick 'em like fruit" approach.

Even though all were plush I noticed, just like every batch of sheepskins I've encountered, not all are equally soft.

This is fine but just be sure to definitely inspect these as well.

Of course. While all the Vroom mitts the local Target had were softer than the current Eurows on the shelves at Wal-Mart, I did bypass several to get to the softest. ;)

I tried the dressing over the weekend too. Very nice look and easy to aapply. I believe it's water based, did the look of the dressing throw you off though? It had that gel like solvent based look, yet it was white and behaved like a water based dressing.

The scent threw me off too, I prefer my car care products to smell fruity, not "manly." All factors that are secondary to performance of course. ;)

Thanks for the review, with your permission I will add pics of the tires I dressed with the vroom later tonight. I did two coats and they came out a bit more glossy than yours.

It had a gel like appearance until it dried, then it looked/felt like Z16. I typically do not like OTC products but so far I am impressed.

Post all the pictures you want.

This sounds like a product I sample a while back: Hi Top Dressing

The longevity was horrible :down In perfect weather on cars parked in a driveway, it evaporated way too quickly.

This product sounds a lot better.

I tried the Vroom microfiber wash mitt last night ... very nice!

Thier microfiber towels are a bargain. 12 towels for $7.99 ( 14" X14")

The Vroom version of the Absorber is excellent also.

I'll have to try the tire dressing and glass cleaner... my local Target didn't have those items in stock yet.

Thanks for the review.

Most of all, I like the simplicity of the packaging. There is something about it that grabs me. All in all, I am glad its halfway decent in case I run into a jam.

:nono Oh god no! Never! :p

I passed up my Target's Vroom mitts. Didn't pass the inspection except one - I have plenty so I didn't buy :D

Nice reviews!

Like I mentioned in a previous post, these products will do well for those who are on a budget or can not mail order.

Hopefully, after a few washings the MF's will hold up.

Folks should report back on this.

What does the glass cleaner and tire shine cost? I was with my mom so I never looked at the price or receipt. LOL

There is not a tire dressing locally available that I would recommend (mostly the greasy looking aerosols). If the durability of Vroom's is any good, I will finally be able to recommend something other than $12-20 dressings from online vendors.

ohh. gotta try vroom out some time. ive only tried the car care set that came in a bucket from costco which mainly included turtle wax stuff. ill go check it out next time i go to target. thanks for the review TW85!

Two layers applied back to back with an EO tire swipe. No sling, on these tires.... believe me that is saying something.

Two weeks and my tires still have a nice sheen to them. Of course the dressing on the outside tread has worn off but the sidewalls still look nice.

Great OTC tire dressing as far as I am concerned.

i went to target today. well, found the Vroom section, pretty amazed that ALL the sheepskin wash mits were sold out! 2 big rows emptied out! so i just brought a chenille wash mitt for fun, not the premium one, the 3.99 regular one (hand picked out of 10-15). i thought the tire dressing was somewhat small for 4.59 so i tried out Black Magiv tire shine spray (the clear bottle one) which was also 4.59 but a lot bigger compared to the Vroom bottle. which would you guys pick? the vroom or the BM tire dressing? and how do you guys think about the chenille wash mitt?

I just noticed the vroom stuff the other day when I was in target.. I'm looking to get a new wash mit since I'm detailing other people's cars now.. I need a good one for my car.. I'll have to check the vroom one out.
