Inexpensive power washer

I like blue! :oP
Walking around home depot yesterday and target i saw some power washers but i have no knowledge of them whatsoever. I want a very small/compact, powerfull, safe and low cost power washer for my car. Mainly to clean my rims (VW brake dust). I hate having to scrub everytime no matter what length i let them go. I like using the ones at the self wash but can't keep dumping money into them.

What can you recommend?

I have the cheapest power washer from Home Depot (1500 psi, hangs up on the garage wall, ~$120) and it works great. With it I can clean my car in 12 minutes without breaking a sweat (well...it depends on the outside temperature). I have had great success with it, just remember to stick with the wide spray and keep a few inches between the nozzle and the paint. It's even capable enough to power wash the entire exterior of my house (that's how I talked my parents into getting one). You won't be dissappointed.

i'll have to take a look at that one this week. I hate breaking my back cleaning the rims on my car. Its the biggest problem us GLI (jetta) owners have are these crappy pads.

I've got a gas powered 1800 PSI washer. I love it. My only gripe is that it will only inject chemicals at low pressure. It works great on my engine and rims and I also use it frequently when washing. As stated before, you have to be careful because you can cause swirls and or take paint off! Good luck shopping.

Depends on how you look at it? Ceramics for my car run $50-100 for the fronts and then labor @VW to not void warranty $100/hr. Pressure washer looks more enticing, that and I only have 9000 miles on the car.

That's why I like having a car so far out of warranty that I don't have to worry about it at all. $100/hr, that's awfully high. You could still look at ceramics for when you go to get your pads changed, they also help your distances and dissipate heat better. If you have a valid competition license you can get 50% off EBC brakes from the manufacturer, just one more reason to participate in Autocross :D .

Yea i hate these pads and there's no remedy from VW. But i plan on upgrading to ceramics soon. I had them on all my other trucks and loved them, NO DUST! But i'll give these a few more thousand miles first.

$100/hr, thats VW for you. Its a joke how much they charge. 2 hours to change a tire just to give you an example.

They must use their hands, I can swap out the front suspension in my CRX (shock body removed, springs swapped, reinstalled, both sides) in about 10 minutes, and I'm not even a mechanic, I'm a 17 year old kid. Tell them they're not trying hard enough. :lol

Seriously vw rates/mechanics are a joke in some places. I aksed for just an oil change they said NO! I had to get the whole 5000 mile package for $69, i was like i have 3000 i just want an oil change, said no again, i walked out.
