I don't see a difference

After washing my vehicle the other day I decided to follow up with 2 different qd's just to see if there was any difference and experiment. I used eagle ones wet wipe and shine and mothers showtime. I sprayed half of the hood with each product. I used separate microfibers towels to wipe each product off. Is it just me, but I really don't see any gloss enhancing properties from either one of these products. The hood doesn't look any more shiney than the rest of the car. I would think since the eagle one has silicones that it would enhance the gloss a little bit more than the mothers, but I didn't see it. The only thing I noticed from both of these products was that the surface was more slicker after using it. What's the deal?

never tried those two, but Griot's Speed Shine definitely leaves the car with a nice gloss. Also the rarely mentioned ( :) ) Perls car wash does the same thing and combines the car wash and QD step into one.

The deal is, there really isn't a TON of difference between good QDs, and any claimed "shine enhancing" properties they may have are almost always overstated. They are good for lubrication and restoring slickness to a waxed finish though.

The differences I mainly look for in QDs is the slickness factor, which can be a very subtle difference that is hard to discern, and usability factor. That is, how easy it is to use.

Honestly, you're not the first member to see little difference between QD brands, even among older members. Still, we have our favourites, for one reason or another. :)

By the way, all QDs contain silicones of some sort....

4DSC,

I respectfully disagree.

If I have a carnuba wax, e.g. S100 on my vehicle and the wax is still relatively fresh, (less than 3 weeks old) it's been my experience that FD gives my vehicle a better than "freshed waxed" look.

So, I think FD's "shine enhancing" properties are amazing.:up

Sure about that one? Isn't one of Meguiars QD's bodyshop safe? Can't remember which of the two it is now but I assume bodyshop safe means no silicone right.

Ditto!!!!

FI and QS are silicone and wax free.

There are significant differences in QD performances.

Pinnacle Crystal Mist ( carnuaba based) and FD (silicone based) have outstanding shine/gloss enhancement ability.

Products like EO and Mother's are more of a cleaning type QD that rejuveniated the shine of the established protectant.

Clearkote QS seems to have both but less shine enhancement when compared to Crystal Mist and FD. IMO :wavey
