How to re-size pictures and save file space.

If you use Windows XP you can save file space and alot of Autopia members the hassle of waiting to download huge pictures where they have to scroll left to right.

Select the "image resizer".

With this offical Mircosoft program, all you need to do is highlight your pictures, right click and down grade the size (not quality) of the picture. The file size and picture size are reduced and the download times for us are alot quicker.

P.S. Maybe we can give this a sticky?

Oh, WOW! As a dial-up member, I hope lots of folks will take your advice. Thanks for sharing this tip, joed1228. :bigups

I havent used XAT, but what I like about the windows xp image resizer is this...

1) right click picture

2) select resize pictures

3) press OK

AND YOUR DONE! With your pictures resized to 640x480... or you can set it to other sizes if you want. I also like how you can right click a bunch of picutes and resize them all at the same time. The only downside is that this program probably wouldnt work on non-xp systems.

Wow, just installed, GREAT tip, i really like it, you dont have to open up all your pics...whatev, coupla clicks and your done! GREAT FIND:xyxthumbs

I use photoshop to resize and "save for web" which removes unneeded quality from pics. . .

XAT is good, but I recently switched to the powertoys program and it works much easier :up

Seriously? I can't imagine anything being easier than XATs image optimizer.

BTW, I use MS Paint to white out the license plates.

Blue-Sun's Photoshop technique is the best...but the slowest (unless you create a Photoshop Action to batch process a group of files).

Why is it the best? Because JPEGs are "lossy" and not all programs are made equal in their ability to compress in the least damaging way. Look for blotchy, square groups of 8 x 8 pixels.

That being said, I downloaded this utility and found the results were excellent! And you can't beat the convenience!
