How to 'fix' a large scratch on rear window.

So... while I was washing my car today I noticed multiple extremely deep (.5mm-1mm) gouges on my rear window, presumably due to a vandal since I cannot imagine any other scenario where the glass was gouged this deep with no damage on surrounding paintwork not only that, I wash my car with a sponge so I find it extremely unlikely that this was my own doing..... and given its the rear window, it can't be from debris during highway driving.



I know you can't buff gouges this deep out, but I am looking to make it at least less noticeable, and given that its the rear window, I suppose optical clarity is not a top priority.



Any ideas on how I should tackle this?



 
By polishing a scratch(s) this deep 'to make less noticeable' you run the risk of thinning the glass - cold glass + defroster or slamming the trunk lid may cause cracks
 
The glass replacement companies now repair small chips using some sort of liquid polymer. Maybe you could use that to fill in the scratch. Clear nail polish? Dab on some water based urethane and then a razor blade to remove excess. Replace the rear window.
 
Any ideas on how I should tackle this?

i am going to do some glass polishing on my car in the near future, just waiting for broken arm to heal.
 
I had a very similar issue with a 4Runner I owned. Nothing made it llok right. Once I worked on it, I couldn't take my eyes of the scratch anytime I drove it. I ended up replacing the glass. Insurance covered it thankfully!

I cannot imagine any "filler" would last since the scratch is not very deep. The filler will have nothing to hold onto. Worth a shot however...shouldn't cost more than $20 with the mobile repair guys so long as you travel to them.
