How to clean a boar's hair brush???

Hi everyone wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with a safe way to clean a boars hair brush. I love the way it cleans leather but the smell is something left to be desired. I tried shampoo and conditioning with a little success but I don't know how good it is for the life of the brush in the long run... Thanks for any tips, tricks or advice.

One of the nice attributes of a BHB is that it comes clean so easily. I use a BHB on wheels all the time and the most I do to clean it is a quick swish in the wash solution and a good rinse. The same applies to my larger BHB that is used occasionally for car washing.

One of the less desirable attributes of a BHB is that when wet they smell like a wet boar. I don't have a very sensitive sniffer so I don't really think about it too much. Since we've been using BHB's to clean cars and wheels for ages I wouldn't worry about a shampoo doing it any harm.

By shampoo, do you mean hair shampoo? That and time should resolve the smell issue. You might set it out in the sun (tips up) a couple of times.
