the hoover steam vac jr.

any thoughts on it?

there were some user reviews on the Bissell that complained of high maintenance on the system and the Hoover was easier. the hoover does not heat its own water.

the bissell is $100 and the hoover is $80.

thoughts?

We have one of those. Given it's inherent limitations (power of motor, no heater, trigger-pump sprayer), it works OK. It's very light, easy to use, easy to clean. We use it for small messes in the house. IMO it's not powerful enough for heavy-duty detailing applications, but it would sure be better than nothing.

We just use a spray bottle with cleaner (often just Resolve) instead of the built-in one; yeah, it's *that* bad. None of the manual-pump sprayers are worth much, IMO.

We used to have a (non-heated) Bissell Little Green (with the pretty useless "turbo brush"), we gave it to some friends and kept the Hoover. So *we* liked the Hoover better. The Hoover seemed to have better sealing, making for better suction. The Bissell seemed to have some air leaks, and yeah, the Hoover is *very* easy to maintain.

But neither one is a substitute for a "real" extractor...or even a good wet/dry vac with a carpet nozzle attachment. They're really just handy, convenient things for little jobs.

I just bought the little green. i tried it on my girls front floor mats. they looked alittle cleaner but the water was black !!!

I think i am goingto use the Blue coral DRI-CLEAN first, let it sit, then make the carpet cleaner water and hand brush it. then i'll use the little green to extract the dirty water. i have the non heated one too and the brush does not do much.

I got the little green machine with proheat refurbished from amazon for $50 and I'm pretty impressed with it. I did the carpet on my mom's 99 Taurus and it looks like new. There are some stains on her floormats that I could not get out because they were very deep but it does help lighen those up.

I bought mine from a vacuum store and it was also refurbished. I think for what i will use it for it will be well worth the 50 bucks :xyxthumbs
