Homemade wax

Well I believe this is the only forum I haven't posted on concerning this but I see some familiar faces and will post up anyways. Some may know that there are a few of us who are attempting the home brew method of wax. I am doing it to get a better understanding of the formulation of wax, and how its properties change with inputs. 1 batch down so far and my scale just came in yesterday for more mixing next week.

Increasing interest in making wax might encourage an online detailing supply store to sell the ingredients for producing homemade waxes. Sales of such ingredients could replace the sagging sales of top tier waxes since the myth of high price waxes has been busted.

The establishment of a topic specific to the sport of homemade brews at any of the many online forums where people could openly exchange their findings will only lead to a miracle blend!

You don't need a store, its not really hard to find and buy the stuff. I will say, there are certain products that only chemists in controlled environments can handle, and yes it is hard to get the magic blend, but it has been done and hopefully will be done again. :waxing:
 
Well a lot of testing will go on this week, performance vs ease of use. Pics will be posted on blog. Enjoy

Two other ingredients you may consider are, Sodium Silicate often called Waterglass, which may add to the durability. Rapeseed oil Often called Canola oil, which may add gloss and durability.
 
The look and ease of use are decent but the durability is lacking. You can see it died to quickly on the Toronto Meet thread.
 
have you tried speaking to rubbishboy, i think he posts on here if not try detailingworld.co.uk. He's made his own wax and it is suppose to be very good, he maybe able to give you some help with the durability
