Help, somebody scratched my car!!

As I was washing my car today I found out my bumper got rubbed by somebody. Didn't see it before because it was covered with nasty roadsalt and slush. There is a rather large, nasty scratch that went down to the plastic (no more paint) and some smaller surface scratches where it got rubbed. I am pretty sure the surface ones can be dealt with when I do the usual spring polish/waxing, but the large one will definately have to be painted over. Here are the pics:

This what I saw :shocked

I'm going to get an estimate at the dealer tomorrow (going for maintenance anyway) My question is, for something like this, how much should I expect to pay a shop to fix or if it's something that I might be able to do myself. I've touched up paint chips myself before, but nothing as large as this.

I can help you here. I hit the side of a building making a turn one day and messed up my rear corner panel. Most likely they will have to respray the entire panel. I shopped around and tried to find out who was going to give me the best price to fix it. The damage was worse than yours and but they basically just resprayed the panel there were no dents or anything just lots of scratches. I got estimates ranging from $300 all the way up to $800 ( I also asked them to buff out a scratch on my hood) Needless to say I went with the cheapest and it turned out to be a huge mistake. Let me tell you why.

There was compounding dust everywhere under the hood on all the moldings and the idiot didn't even cover my matts so I had to big compounding dust shaped foot prints. I WAS SOOOO MADDD

The work they did was great so I can't take that away from them but when I took a peak inside the shop I was surprised to see how sloppy it looked! When I dropped the car off they were closing up for the day and the bay doors were closed so I didn;t notice it then. My point is this things happen it sucks but just shel out the cash to get it fixed in a couple of months you won't even notice the few hundred you spent on it. My other point is make sure that the shop you take it to is meticulious and detail oriented. I wish I did

Perhaps post here for any good autobody shops in your area. You'll be glad you did. Hope this helps

I know how you feel man. Someone hit my 00 Si towards the end of this summer. its not as bad as yours but i still want to get it fixed. I shopped around for good places to get it painted and found a place that quoted me 300CDN for the bumper, fog light covers, SIR lip and an SIR grille that i'm buying. I've seen their work before on some friend's cars and it's holding up quite well.

I was thinking about getting the fog lights but the dealer quoted me 600CDN!! Needless to say I flipped him off. You know where I could get them for cheaper than that?

Maybe I'm gonna leave it like this for a while (if the bumper needs to be resprayed anway), save up for the fogs and do everything at the same time.

Anyway, I'll see what the dealer quotes me tomorrow and I'll go from there.

i would suggest waiting till you find some fogs for sale and do it all at once. I've seen a red SIR with with the covers painted red and it looks great.

As far as the price...the dealer quoted me $450 for the SIR grill and $4xx for the lip . I have some friends that work at an acura dealership that said they can get it for me for cheaper so i'm gonna have them get it for me. Luckily the fogs were on the car when i bought it.

I'm not sure if you have painted mouldings/skirts and a painted lisence plate thingy but if you're gonna get some paint work done you might as well get it all done. i'm sure it wouldn't be too much extra as they are relatively small parts.

where in canada are you located?

I'm in Montreal. My initial plan was to get the OEM fogs, carbon fiber front lip and a JDM grille (I own an aftermarket business so I could get this stuff cheaper) but the more I think about it, I might just stick with what it already has and keep it in showroom condition. That's a better investment than any aftermarket parts.

Also, i'd rather save up the money to get a faster car when the time comes a few years down the road. :up

I've owned modded cars before and I barely got rid of them when it was time to sell. The thing about the fogs is that I am not satisfied with the car's lighting right now, so I'd get them purely for function. But if they're gonna be like 600 bucks, I think I'm just gonna go for a Phillips HID system instead. Even if it costs more, the difference is worth it. Besides, the prospect of hacking up my bumper to fit the fogs makes me queasy. :nono

By the way, here's another pic I took of her today:

If the whole bumper doesn't need to be sprayed; try finding an Airbrush company that does that work like Aero Colours.

the philips HID kit is something i plan on getting this summer. but since the car comes with reflector headlights i think i'm going to find some projectors and hack up the stock lights to make them fit.

This is a pic of one of my friends cars. i want to do the same thing. :up

That's pretty cool. Is that a single projector? I guess on Civics two projectors would look better, it'd fill the housing more. (plus you need the turn signal)
