....and also a boatload of other adapters, nozzles, etc, so I can pretty much use any attachment made for any vac! Buying all the extras doubled the price of my vac, but I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I do also like the 4050 model as well. I am sure it is a great vac too. These things truly are iindestructable! They are also quieter than shop vacs IMO.

Wow, I just found a few pictures of that vacuum and I'm really liking the design! If HD puts those on sale anytime soon, R2's gonna be getting the boot. I hate how my shopvac's hose just lays around or kinda wraps around it, whereas that Ridgid pretty much becomes a toolbox. That's awesome.

I always go ttired of having my shop vac tip over and roll into the side of my car when I was trying to use it. with the vac I have now I can just set it down and I know its not going to rool away or anything. With the pro hose kit I bought, It is very good qulity and long enough to reach in about any situation.

It does pack up quite nicely. Everyone who sees the vac seem to want it! Although, with all the extras I have a have to carry a second tote anyways!

Keep in mind that the weakness of the Rigid vacs is the hose that comes with them. For your personal use it isn't an issue. To use on others vehicles, the Pro hose is the better option for sure. It's much more durable, flexible, adaptable etc. than the OEM hose. It also means that the "tool box" style becomes almost useless as the Pro hose wont fit inside.

First consider "lift" before brand Or HP. Since you'll probably be using it to vacuum wet carpeting and such this is a more important consideration. If I'm not mistaken you want a lift rating over 100 inches and perhaps someone who knows more about this can weigh in here. I don't know if they put this rating on the boxes or where exactly it can be found but perhaps a search on this is in order.

Does the pro hose work well with this model? The pro hose has a larger diameter so i am concerned it will get clogged it it picks up something big and it travels from the larger pro hose diameter to the smaller vac opening. Other than that i love the shape so if it works well i will pick it up.

I too am a Rigid fan. I have a 16 gallon unit that I've had for about 10 years that has been through a full house remodel, flooded basements, ton's of misc. pick ups, and countless details etc.... It has never given me a lick of trouble. I decided it was too cumbersome for garage use and decided to look around for a replacement that is wall mountable. I stumbled upon an Everstar garage vac at Home Depot and decided to give it a shot. Not sure of the HP rating but the suction is fantastic. It comes standard with a 32' hose with all the attachments. I paid $99 but found them on clearance last week for $54!!! My advice is pick one up, you will be pleasantly surprised. If that doesn't work, Rigid all the way!! Here is one I found on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...loc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget

The pro hose works extremely well with my vac although it was a little expensive. The one that comes with the vac will get you by, but the pro hose is made so much better and has a longer reach. As far as clogging, I have never tried to suck up anything larger than 2", so I can't answer that LOL!... The standard hose is 1-7/8" and the pro hose is 2 1/2". It comes with adaptors to fit the vac. I also picked up a 2 1/2 - 1 1/4 adaptor. That way no matter what kind of cool attachment I might find, I know it will fit regardless of what brand vac it was designed for.

In my experience, anything that makes it into the hose has no trouble passing through and into the tank. I *tolerated* the OEM hose as long as I could but once I got the Pro hose, the little vac cruised right on into its' prime.

Thanks i will use it 80% in the car so i should not have a problem. I want to get the pro hose, i was at Home depot today and checked it out. What an upgrade over the stock hose! I have had a 12 gallon Crafstman for about a year now and it has worked great but it is too bulky to have around, i am going to try to sell it to one of the neighbors. :lol
