I know couple of you guys are fans of MMA and the UFC
I recently competed in a wrestling and submission tourny (grappling)
I competed in the 165 LB weight class even though i walk around 158 lol.
Guys competing in 165 usually cut down to make 165 and walk around 180 to 175ish, so i was a small one
Belt level was Blue/Purple mix

Didn't do too bad won 4 of 5 matches that day. lost in the finals 4-2 points
Heres a couple pix from the tournament

Sweet.

I wrested 4 years in high school and started training in Jiu Jitsu (briefly) at Carlson Gracie's in Chicago. This was in 1997, way before anybody knew what MMA was.

Prior to this, I actually used to do Tae Kwon Do at Rising Star with Stephen Bonner, who was one of my brother's best friends. (Back then he was Steven).

Around 1998, while living in Orlando, I met Dean Thomas, and did a couple of classes then. The first UFC I went to was in 1999, Frank Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz. There were maybe 2000 people in the stands...

Have trained on-and-off with American Top Team since the mid 2000s, although I love it, I just don't have time for it.

Congrats on doing so good outside of your weight class. :) :yourrock

Dang Todd you would have been a beast in your dedicated more time to it. having a wrestling base IMO is the best when starting out, plus you got striking experience tae kwon do.
Bonner is a legend!
America Top Team has tons of great fighters.

and thank you for the compliment :bigups

When the first season of the Ultimate Fighter started, I remember being shocked at "Stephan" (not Steven) Bonner being on there. Him and I knew each other but we weren't friends. I was more like the annoying little brother... My dad actually helped treat him for a brow recluse bite he had... He (Stephen) has a video tape of my brother kicking him in the groin with a spin-side kick while he was going for a round hose during their red belt test...

I was/have been a member of the Underground Forum since about 1997 (where we all learned the fine art of trolling), and can remember when the UFC was taken off of cable, when it was barely alive on the internet, when Zuffa used some dirty tatics to purchase it, when Dana White had a contest for the new UFC logo on the Underground, and when Zuffa rewrote history to make themselves look like they saved the sport...

Getting a little off topic, but once again, awesome job :)
