gas guzzler...

anyone else got the problem of filling up at the gas station just to end up back there days later? I hated this when I owned a 1998 Silverado...( there was countless things wrong with it.

Anyway, how often do you guys fill up now? what do you get per gallon? I am always trying to find ways to save money on such a costly necessity. i know where I live the cost has just went down to about 2.80 per gallon.

i did however notice that last week at the grocery store (Safeway) they had a a program called PowerPump. Apparently, every time you buy groceries and use your Safeway card, you rack up gas rewards. i'm not the biggest shoppers but i figure even the smallest amount of spending still makes a difference. they have a site where you can check to see if the Safeways near you are participating. it's Safeway.com/PowerPump. has anyone used it or know more about it?

I travel 40 miles per day, 5 days a week and can generally fill up every 8 days it seems. I was commuting 67miles one way for many years and was filling up every other day.

My 600hp Beasty gets about 16 on the freeway, and city....well i always have my foot in it so...def single digits lol

My daily though is a 1997 Honda Civic HX 5-speed. 36mpg city / 42mpg hwy. REAL mileage too. My favorite shot.... You'd never guess it has 165,000 miles on it :)

In the winter when I use my 04' Titan, which has a 6" lift and 35" tires, I generally fill up every 5 days (and that is just in 2wd). I manage to get around 11 mpg with it. When the weather is nice, I usually take my 08' Sky, which I average about 32 mpg with it and fill up about every 10-14 days depending on how much I drive it.

I bought a Miata when it hit 75 bucks to fill my 96 Impala. I commute 55 miles a day, so it was starting to really kill me.

Now the Impala is a weekend only car, and I don't really care what the MPG is anymore, I just drive it for fun.

I get around 42 in town and about 50 highway in my jetta tdi. I'm in college and live walking distance from campus so i dont fill up often at all but the milage comes in handy on the drives home

Just a follow up, I still do the same commute (40miles per day) and the same commuter car. I average between 31-36mpg. When I replace my current car, I will find one that equals or exceeds the MPG. I truly believe that oil spikes will continue and be a problem in the immediate future.

I average 90,000-120,000 miles per year on my vehicles.. (hey i drive alot) so I'm always looking to get better milage. I have an 02' explorer that I usually have to fill up from empty about every 3 days if I stay locally about every other day if I hit the highways. Sucks. But i get better milage out of that than i did my 07' avalanche. That was an easy $600/week gas bill.
