So I was in Target last night with Liz looking for a new spot treater that was reasonably priced to clean up a few messes that Buckley has made on our cream carpet. On the bottom shelf, I saw this generically labeled bottle called Folex and a bell went off in my head.

I remember seeing this name on Autopia being reccomended to me for cleaning carpets as compared to my regimen. Well, I am always looking to improve so I purchased the bottle for $5.99 (32oz). All I kept thinking about was this picture from blkyukon:

Well, my questions to anyone who has used it are:

-Do you like it?
-Do you use it on all of your carpet messes?
-Do you use it as a spot treater?
-Do you use it as a full carpet cleaner (dilution)?
-What is your preferred method of using it?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you like it? - I really like having folex around, it's great at removing pet stains, soda, coffee spills, and anything that normal carpet shampoo can't remove

Do you use it on all of your carpet messes? - I only use folex when i have a bad spill or if the carpet needs some extra cleaning due to heavy soilage.

Do you use it as a spot treater? - This is probably the most effective spot remover i have, I've removed everything from pet stains, to ink, to coffee spills.

Do you use it as a full carpet cleaner (dilution)? - I personally haven't yet, just because it is a little costly, but i know some other people have and have had success.

What is your preferred method of using it - I use it full strengh, spray onto the surface, let it sit for about 30 seconds, then use my fingers to agitate the soiled area. To remove it i use a damn terry cloth towel followed by my bissel with hot water only.

Hope i was able to help you out a bit, your tips and tricks have always been of great use to me.

I was recommended Folex a few years ago by a clumsy friend who knocks over anything he drinks :drunk. I have found it to be about twice as potent as a Woolite(1:6)Water mix. I do only spot with it and have found that it will dry a bit crispy if you don't rub a damp towel over it. Love the stuff and use it just about any interior. Never had a problem. HTH.

-Do you like it?yes
-Do you use it on all of your carpet messes?yes in my home as well
-Do you use it as a spot treater?yes thats my only use for it
-Do you use it as a full carpet cleaner (dilution)?i do not
-What is your preferred method of using it?i use it as a pre spotter then i follow with seans oxy mix, has worked wonders for me

Travis or other Folex users .... are there any stains that Folex struggles to clean well? I think I am going to try some, I'm just wondering where it 'fits in the mix' with using other carpet cleaners?

Thanks very much! :)

Sean,

I've been using it for about 5 years now, picked it up at Target on day because they were out of the stuff I normally used, and have yet to find something (consumer product) that cleans as well.

The only thing that I've not been able to get out was some type of red candy that had melted in the back of a Suburban, but it did greatly reduce it.

A while back one of my old Sous Chefs came over so I could help him detail his Land Rover. I opened the back and saw this huge red stain in the carpet and he told me that he had a catering gig a few months before and a container of raspberry fell over in the back. He said he had tried everything and couldn't get it out. After using Folex full strength and diluted in the LGM the stain came out...he was floored.

It also doesn't leave any smell, doesn't foam or leave a residue, needless to say I'm very happy with it.

Keep us posted
Charles

RedondoV6,

I don't think I've had a stain that this couldn't remove, other than the remnants of a melted crayon (purple). Sometimes it may take an additional attempt, but it is really quite powerful. I have to agree with AMDin93103 in that it will leave the carpet feeling crispy, but it can be minimized by using a lot of hot water to extract any residual cleaner left behind. It's definitely worth trying though.
