This should apply to all levels of society like finally prosecuting corporate leaders who bankrupt their companies and ruin the life savings of workers (Enron, World Com, etc...). Or, finally prosecuting pedophile priests instead of hiding the scandal, shuffling them from parish to parish. Far more serious than Michael Vick's dopey brother.
That's great some 20 year old punk is kicked off the team for speeding on a revoked license and kicking an opponent, but there are also far more serious offenders out there who get the cushy treatment too. Not just immature athletes who harm themselves.
I am not condoning his behavior in the least, or criticizing the decision - I support it. We like to pick on the athletes because they have "the life" and earn zillions. Unfortunately, given the media hype, a small lot of them have tainted the image for all the rest of the athletes (college and pro) who lead normal lives like most of us here. For some reason we hold them to a higher standard because they play a sport and then get bent out of shape when, in reality, they have the same faults as the rest of humanity - maybe more so.
Hopefully it'll serve as a lesson for others. But it won't.
