:( Final Update On Optimum Gloss-Coat

463 days ago (or 1 year, 3 months, 6 days) I applied Optimum Gloss-Coat to my 2000 Mercury Sable LS 24V DOHC. You can read the original review here: http://www.autopia.org/forums/optim...-review-optimum-gloss-coat-paint-coating.html

Originally, I planned on running a pure Gloss-Coat long term durability review to see how it would hold up in the long run. But the detailing itch was too strong to ignore and I did end up applying a few waxes or sealants on top of the Gloss-Coat. After a couple weeks, I would always strip off the "topper" LSP to make sure Optimum Gloss-Coat was still there; and it always was.

Since then, I've posted several updates.

Dec 22 2014 - Morning Dew.

Jan 12 2015 - after CarPro Reset Wash.

Feb 23 2015 - Pinnacle Black Label Synergy.

May 26 2015 - Polish Angel Product Testing.

Aug 5 2015 - Optimum Gloss-Coat beading shot after stripping (trunk lid).

Sadly enough, I won't be making any more long-term durability updates in the future (grabs a Kleenex) as I was involved in an accident Saturday night. I hydroplaned southbound on I-95 and the car swerved to the left and I hit the concrete barrier head-on by the Jupiter exit. The car continued to spin and I ended up sliding backwards against the barrier. No other cars were involved and I had no other passengers in the vehicle. According to the NHTSA, this car has a 5-star front crash safety rating and I couldn't agree more as I was able to walk away with only a few bruises from the safety belt.

Luckily, I was able to document the final beading shots of Optimum Gloss-Coat before the car was towed away. (I wonder what the firemen were thinking)

So my long term testing of Optimum Gloss-Coat comes to an official close at the 1 year, 3 months, 6 days mark. Overall I couldn't be any happier with this coating and highly recommend it.

Long Term Rayview Results: 5 Stars

Thanks for reading! :)

Wow. Sorry to hear but glad you are okay. Looks like the Gloss Coat will continue to live on. Any ideas of what you are getting next?

WHOA! This was not the update I was expecting. Glad you're ok Ray. That looked really bad.

I'm extremely sorry to hear that Ray... I'm glad to hear that you're OK and nothing happened to you - that's the most important thing. It could have been much worse.

The paint is still beading strong after 15 months..

What vehicle are you planning to purchase next?

Just glad you're ok

Thanks me too.

Thanks, I don't know yet but for now I'm enjoying cruising around with the top down on this new Camaro :) (rental from Enterprise)

All of the other rental cars were reserved so I was forced to take the Camaro at an economy rate which my insurance covers for now. I still have a lot of research to do...

Man, very sorry to hear about your car, i am very glad you're ok though and came out unharmed. The car did its job, protect you and absorb most of the energy.

Thanks. I'll be more careful driving in the rain now for sure. My tires were in great condition too.

Thanks. I'm happy the car did a great job too. It definitely could've been much worse. I plan on doing research to decide on a car/truck/motorcycle while all the insurance paperwork is handled.

Yep! It's a great feeling being able to walk away from an accident basically scratch-free.

Damn bro!!! Glad you are not seriously injured. That beeding though!

Thanks. The weather was bad all weekend. I think my next vehicle will get the Optimum treatment again. :)

Wow! Glad your ok!

My wife had the same thing happen before we met. In 08 she hydroplane and hit a semi in a 04 Sentry. The car demolished from the Semi and Jersey wall. She walked away, but trucks still scare her.

Maybe a Red SHO next. Just be glad you didn't get it when you were planning on test driving it.

Take care

wow. sorry to hear that
glad you are ok

I am also guilty of taking (synergy) beading shots on my veh after an accident earlier this year as it was being towed off

Glad to hear you are ok. If you get a tank those pesky retaining walls wont be an issue. :P Your gas mileage may suffer a bit though.

Cars are replaceable, people aren't. Glad you are okay.

On a side note, does the coating reduce the longevity of wax's and sealants?
