Fiber-Works Microfiber Towel Review

So at the Ruff Ryders Car Show last weekend, I actually saw someone using some nice towels (with Meguiar's products). The towels were MF and looked to be pretty plush. I began talking to him and asked to see his towels (only an Autopian ;)). He showed me the majority of the line of these towels from www.fiber-works.com . I was very impressed with everything about them, so I picked up all but the edgeless ultra fine.

Extra Plush (Orange w/edge) - One of, if not, the plushest towels I've used. This is the one your hand almost gets lost in :). Great for QD'ing and final buffing.

Fine (Yellow) - Very thin, but very soft. It's great for windows, door jams, interior cleaning, and just general all purpose.

MF Applicator - One of my favorites! Most MF applicators have a reasonably thick nap and soak up too much product, IMO. This one has a relatively thin nap and a foam base. I like it for applying interior dressings/conditioners and exterior LSP's.

MF Wash Mitt (with black wristband) - I was never a fan of MF Wash Mitts due to their thin nap (don't retain the dirt well and if do, drag it on the surface). However, you find other places to use products. This has worked well on underhoods (painted), door jams, rims, and lower panels.

Plush (Green) - GREAT all around towel. I have used this one to remove both polishes, LSPs, and QD's. This one does it all.

Ultra Fine w/edge (Blue) - This is a nice towel that is better for the grunge stuff. It's safe for paint and nice for polish removal at that, but I prefer it on the windows and clear/mirrored finishes.

Waffle Weave MF (Gray) - Great WW. It soaks up a lot of water, but maybe not big enough for some (16x24). I find myself using it with Poorboy's S+W to do my entire car with success.

Microfiber Dry Mitt - All I can say is DUST MAGNET. I haven't tried it on paint, but I by the plushness, I would say it would be great for final finishing to remove that last bit of dust. Me, personally, like using it to quickly remove dust from my black interior as well as various areas in my appartment.

So yeah, in the end, GREAT stuff. I hate to sit and rave, but I now use all of these product reguarly. Check out:

I suspect the orange Extra Plush towel is identical (other than color) to Excel's Elite towel, which is my favorite for paint use.

Nice review Sean. I'm curious to browse the site.

The orange one looks similar to DavidB's Sonus towel in the Autopia store. That's my all time favorite.

The MF applicator looks nice too.

So does the new Vroom drying towel at Target except it's 10 times bigger and half the price.

This one:

I guess... it seems from what I have been hearing as of late, Vroom has been getting fairly good reviews as a consensus especially because of the fact that it is cheap and locally available (Target).

On that note.

Are we trusting Vroom on our paint?!

After a couple washes? NOT ME!

However, the drying towel I posted a pic of is nice. I used it today and had no marring. Fluffy, soft and gentle.

Sorry to hijack the thread:( :o

I don't like the fact that you can't get any information about the company...no mailing address, no phone numbers, no contact name, only way to contact them is thru the website and hope they contact you back.

If you order from them and have problems, good luck!

Edit: That was quick that they added some contact info.

I decided to take the risk.

I saw a link on another forum with some reviews so i bought a few towels. I got the plush and the WW.

They got here in exactly 2 days I dont know what to say about the plush it is amazing, i think it is similar if not better to a pakshak towel i have. And wow can that ww absorb water.

Ric your right abou the missing contact info, but i checked today and they put some up..contact us

I think they are kinda new but i am very impressed with the towels and shipping time.

Sean,

Have you tried the new PakShak towels? How do they compare?

I doubt anything beats the new UltraPlush Plus towel from Ranney.

My concern with these new MF vendors like Vroom and the one that Sean has nicely profiled, is that how are they after a few washes?

My Costco, Turtle Wax and Baja Sol MF's for dirty work are terrible after a few washings. They get stiff and lose the plushness. When new, they felt real nice.

On the contrary, my Pak Shaks, Excel Detail, Vipers and Autopian MF's are awesome after MANY hot washes even after they've been caked up with wax and polish.

If the new Vroom are relabeled Baja Sol, then people will be sadly disapointed.

Same applies with this Fiber Works. The jury is still out on these guys. Sean, please let us know how they feel after a bunch of details and washes.

Good point. I got some of the vroom microfiber and will have to watch out for this as well.
