OxiClean is a better solution for most carpet stains.

I've never tried OxiClean as a general carpet cleaner, but I have tried it as a spot remover on various indoor carpet stains. It hasn't lived up to the infomercial hype for me.

Other than a professional dedicated carpet cleaner, I've had good results with the OTC Blue Coral Carpet/Upholstery Cleaner or Tuff Stuff.

thanks for the input.

not so fond of oxyclean, tried some last summer and didn't really do much good. been using prestone since then with great results, but this carpet in such a bad way i don't think it's gonna to the trick.

this goop stuff sounds like it might be the miracle in a can i'm looking for.

wanted to get some Protein Stain Remover for this job, but the honeymooners get back too soon.

sorry no photos of interior, but trust me it's dag nasty.

I just use my GP for tough stains on carpet. On a related note, though, has anyone ever thought of using color-safe bleach? Someone suggested it to me but I'm a little hesitant to try it.

I've used color safe bleach before. Its got nothing on commerical carpet stuff. Right now, I'm using Hi-Temp prespot (great stuff, but it reeks like Pinesol) on most details, and Folex on cars whose owners are scent-sensitive (asthmatics, etc). I agitate it with a PC/shampoo brush, then use a LGCM and Zep Commercial Extractor shampoo + hot water to extract. In terms of speed/convenience, the APC/Oxy mix has nothing on this method. It smells great too. I'm not sure if it has the punch of Oxy/Castrol SC, but I haven't had a carpet that hasn't come close to perfect with this mix yet.

I recently had to have my home carpet professionally cleaned and restored due to a sump pump failure. The person who I hired to do the work was adamant NOT to use any Oxyclean-type of product on my home carpet. He gave me a container of a product to use as a spot cleaner. It is called "Home Pro Spotter". It comes in a 12 ounce bottle and according to the instructions on the bottle it "contains no solvents, acids or other known listed hazardous materials". I have used it extensively over the past few months on my home carpet. With three children, I have used it to clean tomato sauce, ink, etc. It works great! I ran out of the stuff and looked on the internet and found a distributor called Red Hot Carpet Cleaning. I have not yet tried this product on my car's carpet but I would expect the same great results at spot cleaning.

I tried it once, it was nothing to "Shout" about. There are many better products that are dedicated car upholstery cleaners out there.

Be careful with anything like oxyclean. I used that to spot treat a stain on my seat, and it faded it a bit. I got some blue coral stuff and it faded my gray carpet like I had used bleach on it!

The only thing I use now is "tuff stuff" and it does a fantastic job. You dont have to wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it out. Just spray, brush, let dry then vacuum.....easy.

Yup boongie, I bet the home pro spotter is basically Folex. You could pretty much drink the stuff, but it'll take almost anything out. Right now I'm using Hi-Temp prespot, which is a strong alkaline, slightly better at cleaning than Folex. I wouldn't want it around kids/pets though.

you can get folex by the gallon for about $16 at home depot. I have tried oxyclean and folex. Don't notice muchof a difference. I use it together. No fading problem with my tan interior
