Dyeing Leather Seats

My drivers side seat has lost its color and is turning tan. I was thinking about having it dyed instead of recovering it. Other than losing color the leather is in great shape for 12 years old. I was wondering if anyone has ever had leather dyed. Before I have this done, I would like to get other opinions on the subject. I have attached pics of the interior.

1. Should or should not have done.
2. Pro and cons of having done or not having done.

TIA
Kevin

This is something that I have been following for a few months now. The people that you want to see are in DC Store the company is Leatherique. They can color match you leather its a long process but from what I am seeing its worth the time....I will be doing the seats on my BMW as soon as I can spare the car for two days and the weather is a bit warmer.

1. Your choice, but I have had it done with good results.
2. Pro: If it is done right, it will look new again. I had it done on a grey leather interior Eagle Talon and a maroon leather interior Riviera. I have also had the leather covered steering wheel on the Corvette done. All of those projects turned out good.
Con: Like detailers, some of the people do a much better job. I was able to see some of the previous work done by the guy that did mine.
FWIW, he did the interior work for the Lexus, Cadillac, and Mercedes dealers in my area.

beemerboy,
Thanks for the info. I went over and checked out leatherique.net and found out that for the price for the dye, I could have the drivers seat and any other place in the interior that needed to be dyed for that. I have found a pro detailer here that will do the job for $75 and guarantee his work for a year. From what I have read about the process of dyeing leather, he is following the same steps. Once he is finished restoring the seat, he said he would clean and condition the rest of the interior for me also. I have seen his work and it is above the average detail shop around here. Back in 1992 I had him to cut and buff and 89 Nissan Hardbody for me that had a total repaint which turned out very well. He has a passion for cars that only people like the ones here at detailcity have.
My thinking is that I will let him do the job and save myself the time involved in doing it myself.
