Fist of all is there a diffrence between polishing/compounding? What is each used for? Also what product would I use to get out like minor everything {swirls, scratchs, imprefections} Just can someone fill me in on Pollishing and compounding?

In a nutshell ... compounding is more agressive .... polishing is finer.

Compounding is used to remove more serious defects .... polishing is used to remove minor defects and improve finish.

could a polish remove maring?

Sry kinda noob

Sure ....polishing is used to remove minor marring. And remember, there are varying aggressiveness grades within compounds and polishes so there is some variability and overlap.

Compounding and polishing are general terms and the line can sometimes be blurred.

I think this is probably one of the more esoteric subjects and what separates the Autopian from the amateur "polisher". In my youth, although I understood there was such a thing as rubbing compound and polishing compound (in the green and white DuPont tins), most of my "correction" was from using various cleaner waxes, which had differing amounts of "bite".

The complexity of your question stems from the range of polishes/compounds, pads, and machines/technique (obviously I'm referring to machine polishing rather than hand). This results in innumerable combinations which perhaps can only be fully appreciated through experience.

Perhaps your best bet it to click the "How To" link at the top of this page and read the section on paint polishing.

Respectfully, you need to do some basic reading, but the short answer is yes, if the car requires compounding, it should be followed by a polish to remove any haze from the compound and to bring up the final gloss.
