detailing in thunderstorm

We're suppose to have thunderstorms later in the day today. I scheduled myself to do a little work this weekend and wanted to start today. The car has to sit outside overnight. What would you do ?

Day1:

wash, clay, wash/dry, light polish/clean, wash/dry, zaino (3 coats).

I don't think I can get to the Z within 6 hours.

Day2:

3 more coats of Zaino

Problem is, I wanted to at least get to the zaino part by end of day so I could do 3 coats today and 3 tomorrow. I think I'm stuck doing nothing today. :(

I feel your pain. I am down the beach today and it just started raining. Right after I finished detailing my Toyota 4Runner.

Nothing like rain at the beach...

I've long since learned that the term "isolated thunderstorms" means the thunderstorms will form right over the cars I am detailing that day.

Rain huh? Having the power go out really sucked! Tried to finish B4 nightfall and now the arms feel like crap! Moved to garage, no power in it anyway. OK, I think it was Brian that blew the east coast out with that rotary:D

Hope you got yours in B4 the rain!

Regards,

Deanski

So it's suppose to rain Saturday....right ?....sit....wait....sit....wait....no rain.

...Sunday....Clear.....looks nice out.......

Got around to the front of the car....and then.....it comes down in buckets. :(

I detailed my car early in the afternoon. By late afternoon I was driving in a thunderstorm. The car is dirty again! :angry

the masking tape is used to keep wax, polish, ETC. off the trim since it stains most of the time IIRC, just a noob myself though.

Correct, the masking tape and Tshirts on the windshield are to prevent splatter from the PC. It's easier to tape up some areas prior to doing any work because it takes longer to remove it (polish, wax) off of rubber, trim and so forth.

I got that canopy from buy.com. It is 8'x8' and the legs are 10'x10' (fully extended). The material is rated at 150 denier. It is water resistant and helped cover the front end of the car during the downpour. It helped a little bit as the angle of the sunlight is tricky where I'm located. You can get nicer ones out there. Looking at it now, I think I should've spent more $$$ on this tool. Maybe I'll buy another. :D
