detailing book?

Not to sure where to post this but anyone know of a good detailing book? I know what Im doing but I want to read something about detailing to perhaps get some tips, never can hurt to have more info.

Thanks

The basics are pretty well covered and you should find a number of books that will help you with that. However, you might not have much luck finding a book which can show you advanced processes and techniques.

I've seen a book about detailing at Barnes & Noble but it is hopelessly out of date. They don't even mention microfiber towels.

With the rising popularity of detailing, perhaps it is time one of us Autopians ought to write one? :think2

(Just recalled my strong writing/journalism background)

Yeah, the last book that I bought didn't mention MF either :LOLOL.

I was shopping at Borders Books last week and came across one that I took a peek at. It covered some subjects that aren't typically discussed on autopia such as steam cleaning undercarriages. It also clarified some topics such as upper and lower engine cleaning.

I'd like to think that I know a thing or two, but I plan to always supplement the knowledge that I already have. And only detailing for a few years now, I'd like to gain some of the knowledge that a lot of "old schoolers" here have.

With constant advances in products and procedures, I would imagine any book would be out of date pretty quick. This is a subject that would have to be researched in a dynamic learning tool like a website which can be updated when needed rather than a stagnant learning tool like a book. By no means am I bashing book research in general, just that a topic like auto detailing changes too rapidly.

Just read here on autopia, its better than any book out there

Wow, really? I had no idea.

Either way, he does have some pretty useful information he has posted in the past...

There's not too many good detailing books out there (not that I look for them).

He was actually banned from Autopia for plagiarizing material. Was rooted from MOL for some incorrect information he posted about silicone, too.

The information I have seen from TOWGT seems to be not original conclusions but from other sources. You just need consider it another opinion rather than fact.

For example, when he describes Lake Country Pad porosity, I have emails from LC that porosity is not the only determination of pad cut. This is why a LC green pad with a different foam type is not the same as the rest. His chart fails to account for the AG green and the red pad.

I am not saying it is useful but it should be considered as opinion not proven fact.
