Craftsman Sanders...

I'm new to detailing, and I was wondering if a random orbital sander is the same as these buffers?

I have a Craftsman 5" Sander, how can I fit the meguiars pads/ Orange/White pads? Any sizes?

I know Porter Cables are better, but I'll get that when this one breaks down cause it's usable.

Thanks in advance for the advices.

You would defenitely want to get a PC. That sander is a rotary and in the wrong hands can really do some damage. Just do everything by hand for now until you can get the PC.

Just my $.02.

I think his is a random orbital and not a rotary?

I'm not sure if it's rotary or not, but if I apply by hand, can the DACP be applied with my hand?

But it's there anyway to convert the 5" sander to use polishing pads?

Three important questions:

1) Does it have velcro backing?

2) How many amps is it rated at?

3) What is its speed or speed range?

How does velcro look like?

Amps is at 3

Speed, Im not sure. Gotta check on that.

Can DACP be applied by hands though?

Depending on your part of the world, velcro may go by the term "hook and loop" (I'm just assuming you're not in the USA because velcro is pretty much a household term here). Basically, it's a fuzzy surface that adheres semi-permanently to a furry surface, usually in the form of tape.

DACP can be applied by hand, but you'll probably get real tired. DACP really needs to be broken down with use to get its full benefit. There are numerous threads on here about its use, so a search could reveal more info than I can post in this thread (and you'd get other people's perspectives about its use by hand).

You could try a small test spot by hand to see if it works for you and if it is something you want to spend the time doing.

Hope this helps.
