Coca-Cola on windows...

Has anyone ever heard of pouring Coca-Cola on windows for removing grit and grime??? I was talking to someone over the weekend that said that they pour Coke on the windows to remove dirt. Sounds very risky to me...seeing how Coke is so acidic. I don't know...I just had to ask...

I never heard of it. I have heard of pouring it on bugs, tar and birdbombs. I've never tried it though.

What a waste of perfectly good Coke - what's wrong with Bug & Tar, Bird S___ Remover, or the like? I'd think it would just make more/different mess to be cleaned.

I don't know about the windows, but the Mythbusters used it on chrome and it seemed to remove rust. I just think there are other things out there to clean windows with.

Years ago while on one of those family road trips from hell. My father asked a gas station guy back in the day when they had them. How he could remove grime from the window that had built up. He asked my dad f ro a quarter and got as coke from the machine and poured it on a rag then wiped the window. Al the crap came off and then he cleaned it with regular glass cleaner. I have never forogt that always made me wonder what coke does to your stomach. I do think that's its the acid in the coke that cuts the grime

I've heard of people cleaning chrome, I've used Coke to clean my radiator internally (removed from car) but I'd never use in on glass or paint.

Think about the acid, better yet think about the sugar!

My dad used a coke one time to take off grease that had got on the windsheild one time ....... That was years ago and it worked. When i say grease it was from like the car was parked under a shelter and he cooked on the grill if that makes any sense.

I imagine club soda would work just as well. But then with so many glass cleaners out there, I don't really care to find out.

Im sure coke works fine. Just as some water and a terry or other abrasive towel (yes, abrasive towel.. if that makes sense). I would think coke would make a bigger mess than it would remove due to all of the sugar.

Today I cleaned some windows COVERED in smoke residue. I used a terry towel with my glass cleaner to start (I didnt want to get my mfs too dirty lol) and then I followed that with the same glass cleaner and a mf. It worked perfectly. So I think in bad situations, change the cloth and not the chemical.

I remember the suggestion that if you got sprayed with raw diesel fuel on the highway you could clean it off your windshield with coke.
It may be that they recommend coca cola cause you wouldn't want to waste good beer.
