My experience with a DIY kit was pretty negative. The kit I ordered was from clearmask.com. It consisted of a hood wrap and fender wraps. The quality of the film was excellent as was the tools provided. Heck, the kit included a dvd. Well after 7 hours of struggle with the hood film, I gave up. This was supposed to be the easiest part to do! How you might do really depends on how complicated the shape is that the film is being applied to. For example, the Porsche hood in the dvd video has a simple 2d shape. Applying the film to it is a breeze, or at least it sure looks easy. If the hood has alot of creases and is more 3d, i.e. a Hyundai Sonata, then I'll bet successful application of the film is just about impossible.
