Claying and waxing windows?

Does anyone do this? I have heard of some people using a claybar on their windows as well as waxing them when they wax their car. Does this actually help with shine/smoothness or is it pointless?

Yeah, I've clayed, polished and waxed my windows. It will remove built up grit and grime and make them look better. It mostly depends on how clean you keep your windows on a regular basis whether or not it is worth the effort.

Well my car is 10 years old and I haven't done anything more than using a window cleaner after I wash it so I guess I might give it a shot.

I might clay and polish a window, but I'd be cautious about waxing the front windshield. Some waxes/sealants cause smearing when you use the wipers from what I've heard. Try it on a small section first maybe.

I think it's definitely a good idea to apply something (even Rain-X maybe) to your glass to prevent spotting and etching, etc. I applied Aquapel to my windshield in the fall, and now that the weather's better I see that the unprotected areas of glass (the edges) have light waterspot etching in them while the protected areas don't. This is a brand-new replaced windshield by the way.

I clayed my windows and put a coat of Meguiars#20 Polymer Sealant on them--except for the windshield. Really made them sparkle and did a nice job of not allowing water to hold to the surface--this reminds me--have not done this yet since winter--what am I thinking??

Count me in. Claying the windows is now a normal part of my routine. In addition, this month I used Zaino's glass polish on them for the first time, and was very very impressed with it. I also Z2 them.

I have normally clayed and then cleaned my windows with 20/20. But this last week, I got a hold of some Autoglym glass polish and worked that in there prior to the 20/20. Fantastic results. I think I'll be doing that a couple of times a year from now on.
