Clay before Meg #9?

I'm planning to use Meg #9 on my wife's 4mo old black accord to help reduce some fine micro-scratches (result of washing service drying with terry towels). This car has not been waxed or polished since purchase, and I was wondering if I should CLAY it before using the #9 polish. Will be doing this by hand, then finishing up with #6 wax.

Thanks,

Mitch

That's right, clay it. Especially if it's never been clayed since new. And then, get that wax on it ;) it's been unprotected for far too long already.

FWIW, you might consider the 1Z polishes...they work VERY well by hand and leave some decent protection behind (probably a lot better than the #6). You could top them with a (straight/non-cleaner) wax like Meg's #16 and be set for months. The #6 will only last weeks, by comparison. Not a slam at the #9/#6 approach, just presenting a more user-friendly, longer-lasting alternative.

If you already have #9, just use that. If her car is only a few months old, I'm sure #9 will work just fine. But, if you have a few deep scrathes you can't remove w/ #9, then try the 1z PP.

havent bought the #9 yet, but can get it very easily locally. 1Z is special order and will take longer (wanted to do it this weekend)
