Clay bar...

I love Griot's clay bar. Of course I plan to try Autopia's Glide Block and Waffle when I run out of Griot's. However, up til now I've tried Pinnacle, Griot's and Zaino clay bars. My personal vote is for Griot's as of now.

Another vote for Griot's Clay. Nice consistency, nice size. Not too sticky like Clay Magic can be. I use their Fast Shine (I think it is called Speed Shine now) for the lube. Slick but not soapy with a nice clean smell.

(edit) Sorry I missed the part where you mentioned the price restriction. Griot's is expensive (19.95)

I have only tried Mothers and have been very pleased. It works great using soapy water as the lubricant. I save their QD for bird bombs and other problems.

In my use, Mothers does not leave much, or any, residue behind. It is easy to manipulate and does a great job of getting out the imbedded contaminants in the paint. I just clayed after a long winter--really missed how buttery-smooth it leaves the paint. :p

As for cost--I first paid $19 for the Mothers kit at Pep Boys. Then someone here found that Walmart had for much less--think I paid $11-12 for the kit when I went to Walmart.

either one, although i got two mothers kits for 5.50 at walmart with the 16 oz showtime and little cleaner wax(like ill use it). I find this a better deal, however, the clay is somewhat harder to work with then clay magic, but still does a great job.
