Chrome rim cleaner?

Ive got the Moto Metal 951 chrome rims on my f150. Ive used some cleaners to no avail. What product would work best without messing up my rims? Is p21s wheel cleaner to hars?

Thanks

Hey gators, nice to see you over here from f150online...im a member there that frequents the CD section...p21s is very very safe...it has a long dwell time and since i already know you take care of your truck often, it would be the best way to go if you can afford it...i have had good luck with Chemical Guys Citrus Wheel Cleaner on these types as well....also you need to look into Surf City Garage Beyond Steel, it is supposed to be very effective and safe for all wheel coatings

Mothers Chrome and Wire wheel cleaner but its hard to find sice the FX line came out

I'll second (or is it third?) P21S. Great stuff. That said, I also agree that I rarely need it (at least on my own wheels). With good maintenance, I just use car wash shampoo.

Those are sharp wheels...congrats!

Another for P21S. Works great on regular rims, but if you have backed on crap that wont come off with multiple P21S applications, I think you should try Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner. I had to do that on my father's car. It had years and years worth of baked on tire shine, road tar, brake dust, etc on it and it looks brand new now :)

How about Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner?

It's worked great on everything I've used it on. I haven't tried it on chrome yet, but it's supposed to be safe for chrome. And you can get it cheap at Wal-Mart or local car parts places. I just stocked up on it cause they had it on sale at OReilly Auto Parts for $3.99 for the 26oz bottle.

SO far i have only had to use regular car soap on my wheels to keep them clean ,but then again my car isn't a DD and dosen't get very dirty either. So being the mother power ball was on sale at pep boys one weekend i got both the large and small one. Had some nano polish and use that to polish my wheels, then i used some Fk sealant and Fk high temp 1000 wax, they clean up very easy with some wheel detailer spray.

So what you are using now, is not removing all the dust, or do the wheels have some corrosion forming? You can use 0000 steel wool in conjunction with a soap or cleaner to remove corrosion. You will not damage them because the chromium is harder than the steel wool. As for dust, the key is to clean often rather than use a strong cleaner, but for chrome a mild acid usually works best.

One easy step removes brake dust, grime and rust.

Use exclusively on chrome wheels

Removes surface rust

Easy to use

Do not use on gold-painted wheel

You've probably invested a lot on your specialty wheels. Don't take chances with the wrong cleaner. Eagle One Chrome & Wire Wheel Cleaner is formulated specifically for chrome wheels. It quickly removes brake dust, grime and even rust — just spray on and rinse off for a mirror-like finish that will garner a lot of second glances.
