chemical cleaners vs cleaners with diminishing abrasives

What do you people prefer to use? Are cleaners with diminishing abrasives usually more aggressive/abrasive?

Its completely dependent upon the correction needed. Both perform functions that correct different problems. Abrasives remove the top layer. That in turn, levels out minor surface scratches. Chemical cleaners remove oxidation and clean the paint.

Thats the Readers Digest version. ;)

I only use abrasives for removal of swirls and scratches. Sometimes a VERY MILD abrasive can be used for generic polishing but thats about it in my bok.

Chemical Cleaners (hydrocarbons, alchohals, aromatics, acids, bases, etc, etc) are good to use to CLEAN the surface of contaminants......bird crap, lime deposits, water spots, tar, sap, etc, etc. Trying to remove these with abrasives is just gonna rub them into the paint....a big no no.

I use chemical cleaners to prep already swirl free paint for wax/sealing. I use abrasive cleaners to remove swirls, paint transfers and scratches

So, do all of you use a pc when using an abrasive cleaner or do you do it by hand? I don't have a pc as of yet.
