Ceramic coating high spots?

ReaperHWK06- I'm glad the shop is sorting this out to your satisfaction, sounds like it'll turn out OK!

Nice to see somebody properly exercising such a car. The chute is required at a certain ET-level, isn't it? I forget...

I pulled an area of PPF from the front. The stripes that were convered with PPF left no lines and the paint is immaculate underneath. Must have been UV!

So good news is that my front bumper and hood do not need any wet sanding. All good. And XPEL pPf works well at blocking UV for sure.

I also milled the panels and they barely took anything off; I can barely still see it at certain angles and under only certain lighting conditions now but I’d be the only one that could see. I was able to get the car out today and really looked. I asked my wife she can’t find the lines even after I told her there are somewhere on this panel.

I think I’ll play it safe and leave it like this; I can tell them to cut more but I’m good.

I don’t do 1/4 mile racing but I believe NHRA rules require a shute if you break 150mph in the 1/4 mile.

I run top speed events so their rules are if you break 200mph you are required to have a Shute. I hope to get over 200 at the next event, should have an extra 200hp. 1000hp should do it.

Hat tip to you--I'm getting the heebie jeebies just thinking about going that fast. Of course I'm an old fart anymore. But I agree with Accumulator, good for you for driving the thing like you stole it...er...the way the engineers designed it for.

I have to say--that really is interesting. I'm too lazy to go back to the beginning of the thread and see which direction the "step" was, but it sounds like some UV-induced shrinkage to the clear that didn't occur under the stripe.

ReaperHWK06- Ah, OK..I didn't know the chute requirements went for top-end runs too. That'd be moving alright!

I'm just *SO* glad that this turned out OK, and I applaud your decision to not do more. And I too sometimes refer to the "spousal final inspection", Accumulatorette is great at spotting light holograms.

And that's good to know about the Xpel blocking UV, thanks for posting about it.

Thanks man it could have been a lot worse.

This is the trunk after the wet sanding:

Can’t see the lines in any sun and you’d have to look at certain angles in overcast conditions but it’s so faint I’ll live with it.
