Hi,
I need to clean the some spots on my carpet that got stained over the winter with slush, mud, ETC; But I dont have access to a wet/dry vac. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with any of the spray cleaners? I am looking at 303 Cleaner & Spot remover, 303 Carpet & Upholstery cleaner, Wolfgang Carpet & Upholstery restorer or DP Carpet & Upholstery cleaner.

Any recommendations?

Thanks..

I have always loved Turtle Wax Power OUT! Upholstery cleaner.... just scrub it in with a toothbrush, and blot with an MF, and you're good to go!

I've been really happy with Adams Carpet and Upholstery cleaner. I was helping a friend do some detailing a few weeks back and he was raving about the 303 cleaner. He managed to get a few stains out that I wasnt too sure about using a brush and an LGCM.

If you dont want to order online try and find some Folex, Kids and Pets or the Turtle Wax stuff that shiny recommended at Walmart, Target or other stores.

I like 303 Carpet and Upholstery for spot cleaning, but I'd seriously start looking into a wet/dry vac. They are pretty inexpensive at Lowes.

I second the folex vote. Very good stuff

I need to start experimenting with other stuff you fellas have mentioned here.

I've been using Blue Coral Dry-Clean foaming spray for years and it has always done a good job at getting most everything out.

Grease/tar spots I use some WD40 and a scraper/brush method.

I read a little about the oxy-clean method but the amount of water used concerns me. But the results were very good from the write up i read.

I picked up the Blue Coral stuff once.... it wasn't bad, but I like the TW better as far as a foaming spot-cleaner goes. I do like the oxiclean and/or woolite method some others here use for general cleaning, though.

And since we're talking odd-techniques here, I've got another one: To remove stuck on chewing gum from a carpet/floor mat, hold a can of compressed air upside down and spray the gum and area around it with that; the white propellant comming out will actually spot-freeze the area, and then you can use a flat-head screwdriver to massage the gum away from the carpet fibers, leaving the carpet intact and clean underneath, and the gum comes right off. :D

"Car Brite" extra heavy duty foaming cleaner works best for me......

Looking for a good extractor chemical. Any ideas?

Woolite (4:1)

Simply the best spot remover/cleaner that I've used to date. You laugh, I did, then I tried it. I a gallon mixed up at ALL time. Smells great too. Cheap as heck also!

I'm going to say that 85% of the people here use Woolite diluted. Well maybe not that much but IMO a lot of people use and for one reason, it works. IT is cost effective and when used with heavier spot stain cleaners, you wont be disappointed with the results.

Ok, I'll give it a shot.

If it's 4.1 ratio, what would that be in oz. for 1 gallon of water?

I've never used woolite for anything. If I'm going to dilute something to clean my carpets with then it is going to be Advanage. Typically I just use Prestone upholstery cleaner though. It does handles 90% of the issues I come across. For the other 10% I'll use something else, but in those cases woolite isn't really going to help.
