Carlack products off eBay

I recently did a spring refresh on my motorcycle and went old school with the Klasse twins. I cam across some Carlack products on eBay and thought I would give them a try just for fun. I’m guessing the detail spray will be a lot like Sonus Acrylic Spritz, maybe.

Ha. I think I have a bottle of that Insect Remove somewhere, I should dig it out, should help for rinseless washes. I got it from Werkstatt.

It's too bad no one is importing the Carlack products anymore, I think PBMG had taken over the import on Klasse, I presume they still do. It must be pretty complicated because Werkstatt created their own brand, before in later years selling the actual Carlack products, unless it's just that Carlack figures the name, Car-lack, doesn't translate well.

I had tried to convince one of the more entrepreneurial importers/store owners to take a look at Carlack when Werkstatt went under, but nothing came of that. I just don't really understand the "secrecy" around Klasse and Werkstatt, they were always black holes with minimal information and no customer support (that I recall from Werkstatt). IIRC the Klasse site had no phone number or email address, back before PBMG took it over.

Hmm...I see Autogeek doesn't carry Klasse, but AutoForge does, so I guess the Klasse import business stayed with M37 in the split.

EDIT: I see Carlack, which was a German company, was sold in 2012 to Swiss company Max Lehner AG, which seems to go by Maxolen. That may have been what led to the downfall of Werkstat.

Workstat was good stuff. I wondered what happened to them. They got a lot of talk here at the time and then gone in a short time.

It wasn't really a short time, it was from at least 2005 (as jeffswerkstatt.com) up until 2017. In the middle there somewhere, Jeff simplified the URL and store name to werkstat.com, whoever Jeff was.

OMG, coming back after years is a very strange feeling, but experiencing that for example Carlack 68 isn't CL68 any more but acquired by Maxolen is an even frumpier clump in the stomach.

Hi guys, good to see you again!

BTW, if they didn't change their formulae, the stuff should work 1A as always.

Those yellow and red bottles remind me of Kit Wax/J-Wax products that were made by Northern Labs in Manitowoc Wisconsin.
Setec, LOVE your company and product history information!!! Most car-care enthusiast could care less, but I find it, well, "interesting".

I believe the first car I waxed was using a can of Kit Wax. I was about 13.

The can of wax was left in the garage by my older brother, so I decided one day to use it on my mother's car. I sometimes think back and wonder if I washed the car first...probably not, but if the directions on the can said to do that, I may have. And I'm sure I would have read the directions.

Bence!!! How are you??
Thanks for the question; I'm fine thanks! Abandoned detailing though in the last... eeerrm COUPLE OF khm years. But I somehow keep checking back and now a friend opened a detailing supply shop, so I decided to update my inner files. But it was - how to say - a different experience. Lots of dried tumbleweed, silence, and as I hovered over the well-known member names with my mouse, I saw the dates of their last visits. Somehow frightening - I started here 22 years ago... I wonder how's the others doing... Accumulator/-ette, Scott, Tom P, Grumpy Ketch, GSRstilez, Gregcavi, David B/G/F/W, etc. etc. etc.

If I were closer to you and not still here in Hungary, I'd organize a nice BBQ party for us, old partyzans (hehe)...

Of course I don't want to hijack the thread, but old friends and old product-friends somehow make a natural habitat for these kinds of sentiments. Hope y'all doin' great!
