Out of all the professional detailers who has polo shirts with there name/business name on it? If you do where did you get it done and how much did it cost? I have T-Shirts now but am looking to get into a more professional attire!

What is the general consensus on Polo shirts with business name/your name on it? Thanks for the help! :)

I plan on doing this down the road because the more professional the better. But I don't plant to use polo's as I feel that's TOO dressy. I'll be going with something like a button down dickies short sleeved work shirt with my logo on it. Google some places, most are on the expensive side (around 30-40 per dickies work shirt with custom logo).

I've gone around and of the 2 shops around, none have t-shirts. I know that Polos will be an investment to start with but will convey a very professional image. If I go out on the town I could wear the polo shirt and get professional free advertising!

L.L. Bean will do embroidered polos, and they make a truly great shirt and do mail order. I was looking at the polo route last year, and IIRC Bean's was fairly competitive pricewise.

I know it shouldn't matter but when the general public sees someone a polo type shirt they assume much more professionalism. I know it shouldn't matter but you what they say about perception and reality.

I know someone who does home remodeling so he bought about a half dozen white polo shirts made out of the same moisture wicking material Under Armor is made of (but much cheaper) and had his company's logo embroidered on them and he swears that professional look helps him pick up business (along with the quality of his work) when he is working on one house and the neighbors see him.

I have a few polos with the name/logo on front, the web page printed on the back just below the collar and a slogan on the sleeve. They are very professional and I have gotten many compliments about them. They are comfortable and I wear them daily at the grocery store and gas station. Like someone said, free advertising.

I got them embroidered at a local company. I think I picked the polos up at Kohl's for 50% off.

i bought 2 dozen polos from queensboro.com in different colors and fabrics. their pricing and customer service are great

I think a polo shirt is a good idea for when you are meeting with the customer and talking the job over. Then you can wear the work T shirt to do the actual detail.

nice so far Aramark-Uniform is a good site so far thanks for the suggestions, 2 polos Fully customized like I want (just text) ~ $54 + shipping :) thanks guys!

still gotta check out queensboro.com

alright thanks for all the help, and given the fact aramark-uniform has no minimum and very reasonable fees for everything, I think I have found my uniform people! :)

Now another question: what color shirts to buy and what color stitching to get with it. I was thinking Black Shirt/Gold lettering, and then White Shirt with Gold or Black/Navy lettering. Again wow, thanks for all the help! :)

Personally, I just stick with t-shirts. During the summer I end up changing shirts as many as 6-7 times. Honestly, I don't think my customers, even new ones, expect me to wear anything else when it is 100 degrees outside.

I would definitely go with dark shirts, white ones look like crap after you work in them a few times.

thanks scott I'll get some Black/Navy T-Shirts from aramark-uniform, the white one I do have looks crappy now because some dirt I can't get out of it now!

Good thread here!

I would opt for a lighter colour because it won't attract as much heat when you are outside. Sure it may look dirtier, but clients can't expect you to NOT get dirty when you're detailing.

For me, my health takes priority over colour choice.

Oh, I'm talking about on the job. If I meet with customers, I do agree that I would wear a polo or something of that nature witht he business logo, etc on it. But on the job, I plan to stick with a dickies work shirt, they can actually be pretty "dressy" if you pair them up right ;).

Once my logo was digitized by a local embroidery company, I pay a flat $8 per anything they embroider.

I plan to find the right clothes on sale here and there and end up with a nice collection of work shirts, trade show attire, etc. Jim of Jim's Auto has a nice traveling bag that he had done. Looks great when traveling to shows and so forth.

Here's a picture of my red polo- I do try and match the colors with anything in my logo and overall color scheme.

- Sorry, I keep getting an error message when uploading the jpeg that is 37 kb???
