Bulk Wheel Cleaner

I have a question and believe that you will be able to point me in the right direction. I have recently started up a mobile detailing business that I work on the weekends and I’m looking for a wheel cleaner that I can buy and bulk .The product must be a cleaner that is safe on all wheels being that I will run into multiple wheel types during the day, but one that is also strong enough to handle brake dust of customers who don’t care for their car too often. I like eagle one A2Z but you can’t buy it in bulk plus is seems a bit too strong. I’ve been recommended Optimum power clean, Griots Garage heavy duty wheel cleaner, Mothers all wheel cleaner, and Dawn dish soap. So what would you recommend? And unlike some I don’t expect the cleaner to do all the work for me.

ValuGard (Auto Int) has a stronger wheel cleaner that is sold in bulk. It could very well be an appropriate blend of good cleaning power without having to worry about damage. It offers good cleaning power on those dirtier wheels.

Would the zep citrus be safe on all wheels because I just seen it at my local home depot and man it was only $12 for a gallon that's cost effective

See if you have an AutoMagic rep in your area and ask for Magnificent. Non acid and works very well. You will want to keep something stronger around for the really messed up wheels.

3d yellow degreaser, auto int, and ardex all sell wheel cleaner in bulk. i don't think there is such thing as one wheel cleaner for all. i would think you would need at a min of two different wheel cleaners.

You should purchase a gallon and see if it meets your expectation.

I've found that the citrus cleaners I own don't have much cleaning punch. In fact, they tend to be somewhat gentle and that's why I might use them where a "sledge hammer" isn't needed for a given task.

Megs Wheel Brightener hands down.

I would quit detailing if they stopped making it. Ok, not really but I'd think about it!

I've used it for 6 year and hundreds of wheels with no problems at all. Just don't use it on unfinished aluminum...duh! You can't use any of the above cleaners on them either.

4:1 is recommended but I use it at 8:1 all day. I have a separate bottle of 4:1 for brake dust caked rims. I've even tried it at 10:1 and it did decent.

I mean seriously. You're not gonna find a better product that costs less than 5.00 per gallon when diluted.

Exactly it. Have 2 bottles, one at 4:1 and one at a higher ratio for the easy touch up jobs. For my own vehicle washes, I find regular car soap is enough but your average consumer doesn't clean their wheels or the inner rim regularly.

I understand there are going to be certain situations where I will need a stronger wheel cleaner but say for most bi-weekly jobs how do you guys feel about this? My main concern more then anything is wheel safety, I want something that is safe on most wheels. I rather put in the extra elbow grease

that should be fine. i recently got some to play with and so far its pretty good. although my favorite is the autoglym acid free/custom wheel cleaner the 3d is much more cost effective. i like the autoglym (i mix it 50/50) because of the shine it seems to leave behind it is glossier than the 3d. i tried the 10:1 and think that for me i need something a little stronger say 7or 8 :1, for me the 4:1 seems like it would be a little to strong. testing will tell.

Wheel brightener has a pH of 5.5 and a health hazard rating of 3. The Valugard wheel cleaner has a pH of 1.5- 2.5 and a health hazard rating of 1.

Which would you say is safer on a wider variety of wheel types?

All I know is Megs sell a LOT of Wheel Brightener. They have for a long time. So in my opinion, it can't be that dangerous for everyday use.

I dunno if I'd subscribe to that logic...what other people do doesn't always correlate to how good (i.e., safe) an idea it is

I'm not trying to :argue or otherwise be a [jerk], and I'm not bashing the WB, but I'd be a bit careful about that particular product. "Gloves and goggles" and so on.

Nobody thought twice about using 3M PI-II RC either, not for a long time.

I totally understand. Same went for asbestos. LOL.

I use a pump up gallon sprayer so my hands and face are far away.

I'll just say I've not had any damage to me or to wheels since I've been using WB.

What would you recomend Accumulator?

I feel like a better question would be asking whats a good sealant that can used on all wheel types? Being that I have many repeat customers and I can clean then and seal them so I can just clean them with car soap and water from there on.

I have tried the ZEP citrus on wheels before, but you have to watch because I have found that it caused staining on some wheels. My two favorites are Meg's Wheel Brightener or Detail King Brake Up.
