Bucket that fits the Grit Guard?

Where can I purchase a bucket that fits my Grit Guard? I would like it to go all the way to the bottom. I prefer it not be online. Shipping kills.

Also, I was thinking of making the "legs" on the grit guards shorter so it sits a little lower so that I dont waste my wash solution. Sounds like a good idea? Any ideas on how to do this?

Home Depot has one that fits it perfect. The cheaper Wal-Mart bucket is slightly too slim to fit the guard.

if you aren't sure.. bring the grit guard with you and leave it in the car until you are ready to purchase the bucket, and ask if you can grab it to make sure it fits in the bucket before you buy it...

An old 5 gal spackle bucket (cleaned very well) or there are some food service 5 gal buckets also work .

I found something similar given to me at a paint & wallpaper shop... it originally had 50 lbs of drywall mud in it and is smaller than 5 gallons. Comparing it to the size of my 5 gal. buckets I estimate it's 3.5 - 4 gallons.. maybe even something metric. I prefer it over the larger buckets.

Wally World or any grocery store that has a bakery usually gets their glazes and other products in 5 gallon buckets. They throw away a ton of 'em. Ask nice and see if someone will save you a few. They usually come with lids too. :)

that's odd. I found the orange home depot buckets DID NOT fit my grit guards.

they narrowed down a bit too much towards the bottom leaving the grit guard floating about 2inches from the bottom of the bucket.

I had to return them and get the gray buckets from Lowes.

Those fit perfectly and had lids to boot.

I wish you would have posted before i went to Home Depot lol. They didnt fit for me either.

I just cut the outer ring of my grit guard. It fits in my old bucket now.

My grit guard is in my orange HD bucket right now...just checked and it hits the bottom. But I saw the silver ones at Lowes the other night and they're kinda cool looking....

the lowes gray buckets fit mine just fine but they are a little loose at the bottom, don't know if that's the way it supposed to be

No go on the HD bucket for me either. I tried the Walmart ones first, only to discover they didnt fit either. I found my solution at Lowes, as they have both the 3.5 gallon and 5 gallon buckets available that fit the GG! 3.5 are great for ONR washes, and the 5 gallon ones are for regular washing. The HD bucket has be regulate to seat duty.

Definitely some contradicting findings with the HD and Lowes buckets here. I've read on some forums that they grey Lowes 5 Gallon buckets didn't allow the GG to go all the way to the bottom (about 1-2 inches) because of its tapered design. I actually went out and got 2 of the Lowes buckets a couple weeks ago not really reading up on if they would fit GG correctly. I am currently waiting on my order of supplies including 2 GG's and will test the fitment once they arrive. The listed specs on the GG mention a diameter of 10 1/8" and the inner bottom diameter of the Lowes buckets measured out to be pretty much spot on. :up

Doesn't Pep Boys give away a free bucket if you purchase $25+ of detailing stuff? I havnt had the chance to try to fit a grit guard on it since I just ordered mine. I think its a pretty cool deal it it does fit.
