A few days ago DavidB mentioned Pink Carnauba Paste Wax from BKB Automotive Cosmetics, and being an OCD sufferer I just had to give it a try.
For $13.50 you get a 16 oz. can of carnauba, a cool polishing cloth, and an applicator pad. Most paste waxes come in 8 oz. cans.

I spent about four hours today playing with Pink Carnauba on three different test surfaces: a 30 year old, oxidized, non-clearcoated car, a new car with 3 layers of Zaino topped with 3 or 4 layers of spit shined Souverän paste, and a glass mirror.
For my first experiments I followed the instructions on the can - - applied a thin coat of wax using a damp applicator cloth, let it dry, then buffed with their polishing cloth. First impressions: the wax is very hard - appears to have very little solvent content. The applicator cloth picked up no color from the oxidized non-clearcoat, so it appears to have no abrasive content. It was a little more difficult to buff off than many other waxes.
I then switched to using my spit-shine technique on the center of my MINI’s hood and applied three layers misting with cold water before and during application - wiped on very small amounts and continued wiping and misting until almost all of the smudging disappeared - waited about 5 minutes for drying and then buffed off. Using this method removal was as easy as with any other carnauba. The shine was excellent. After three layers on the middle of the hood I did the whole hood - - and the increased slipperiness of the Pink Carnauba was readily apparent contrasting the center of the hood to the sides. I was so pleased with the results that I couldn’t keep from going down to the garage and adding another layer every half hour or so. The slickness and depth improved with each application!
Now to the mirror test. It’s a glass mirror, so the silvering is on the back of the glass. If I touch the surface with a pencil point the reflection is separated from the point by about 3/32�, and there is a faint reflection from the glass surface. With each application of Pink Carnauba the surface reflection grew more pronounced. I’ve done this test with other carnaubas and synthetics, and only Zaino has had this much effect on the surface reflection!
If your method of waxing is to rub on a large amount of wax and then rub it off, then Pink Carnauba is probably not the best choice for you. A softer wax with a higher solvent content would most likely be a better choice.
Bottom line: IMO Pink Carnauba works for me as well or better than Souverän paste - at about 1/4 the cost! The finger nail test shows it to be as hard or harder than Souverän, but I’ll have to wait for some dried on suicidal bugs to know for sure.

The polishing cloth supplied with the Pink Carnauba is very good. It is 100% cotton with no seams or labels, very soft, and removes the wax residue as well as any microfiber towels that I’ve used.
As always, this is one OCD sufferer’s opinion and YMMV!
