Best swirl remover to complement Z-PC?

I have a 2005 purple Mazda 3s... did a complete Zaino treatment on it by hand, including Z-PC, please see my previous post for details:

However I still have significant swirl marks I'd like to get out. For this purpose I'd like to get:

- PC 7424 :waxing:

- Edge 6" pads in Green, Orange & Blue

I already have Z-PC, but from what I read it is used as a finishing polish, not necessarily the `first and only` step to remove swirl marks.

My questions:

- From looking at the pictures & considering Mazda paint, would either the Green/ Orange pad with Z-PC be enough to remove these swirl marks?

- What is the best pad to use with Z-PC

- Should I be looking at a Menzerna, Poor Boys, Meguiars etc. swirl remover that has a stronger cut than Z-PC, and use Z-PC only as the finishing polish?

- Would it be helpful to apply Z-AIO by PC?

Your help is much appreciated!

Thx,

Okke

Mmmmm no takers... so I guess the main question is:

- Using a 7424, would you expect an orange Edge pad with Z-PC to completely remove the swirl marks on this paint?

I am fairly new to PC polishing as well.

But I would highly recommend the Optimum Polish line.

I would use an orange light cutting pad and some Optimum Polish on those scratches. I would imagine that would get rid of most of them.

You could step up to the Optimum Compound though if that doesn't work for you.

I've tried the Menzerna polish and my results haven't been as good as with the Optimum, but many people here have had great results with it.

Good luck!

From my experience... I have used ZPC using a PC with the Sonus SFX pads (SFX-2, SFX-3). I used the above products on an 8 month old G35 that had some spiderwebs, some swirls...

I started with the SFX-2 (White Pad), primed with Z6, using about 4 small pea sized beads of ZPC. PC speed of 5, arm speed of about 1" per second, with 50% overlapping passes and changing directions. I did that times 2.

I then geared down to the SFX-3 (Blue Finishing Pad), using the same technique as above. That was what my test spot showed me. I highly recommend doing a test spot, where you experiment with your pad/product combination going from least abrasive to more abrasive. The infiniti clearcoat/paint is hard. So my advice is going to be nil - hence that is why you need to do a test spot that dials in your paint issue to your product/pad combination.

Thank you for your suggestions. It looks like I'm gonna need to just try different things, since every situation/paint is different.

I'll make sure to post some pics if/when I get this done :)

ZPC should be able to knock those swirls out easily. I'd start with a white polishing pad, and maybe kick it up to an orange or yellow.

Good luck!

I think this has been addressed before but if you are using the orange Edge 2k pad it is "the most aggressive pad we make". Got that straight from Aaron at Dedication to Detail. The AG site is wrong. You might want to start with the green Edge 2k pad.

I don't think you need to get Optimum Polishes, since optimum is an aggressive product. From those pics (they are very minor) I'm sure Z-PC should take care of it with an orange pad. If not then try Z-PC with a yellow pad.

If that doesn't work I'd try menzerna IP which I have and works great, or you can try SFX-1 which is a little stronger, but no need for the swirls you have.

Indeed, while I have never had an issue that Z-PC couldn't solve, it looks like those swirls are VERY minor, and Z-PC should knock those out NO PROBLEM.

+1

I use Z-PC with orange pad to get the heavy imperfections that OP can't fix. It has a bit of a learning curve when first using it, but it works fantastic.
